The Shoreditch Butchery is located above XOYO on Cowper Street and brings a touch of the New York underground to Shoreditch and is fast becoming recognised as one of the “must be seen in” venues in East London. You can find us there every first Wednesday of the month for a midweek party not to be missed. City slickers and socialites alike will welcome the opportunity to relax and hobnob with minimal fuss in this funky industrial setting.

For February’s Coup d'Etat we are very pleased to welcome co-founder of Moscow Records, Archie Hamilton.

Archie was born into a life in music. The polar influences he was exposed to throughout his childhood can be attributed to the multi-faceted sound of his own work in the studio, or unique style behind the decks. On the one hand his father educated him in the classical modes: jazz, acoustic, rhythm & blues, soul, and even opera. On the other hand his mother was in a punk band in the late seventies, before embracing the Acid House movement, exposing Archie to the sounds and rhythms of Hardfloor, Adonis, Marshall Jefferson and the Orb. He started listening to her Terry Farley and Mrs Wood mix tapes and naturally saved up to buy a set of Numark belt drive turntables and began scoring basic compositions using the eJay loop sequencer.

He cut his teeth as a warmup DJ at the O2 Academy, whilst studying in Oxford, playing alongside acts like M.A.N.D.Y. and Gregor Tresher. On moving back to London in 2008 he continued to enhance his fledgling career in the industry by working at 'Defected Records' and in artist management, whilst playing regularly at venues such as the T Bar, Aquarium, Cargo, Lightbox, and at festivals like Glade, Secret Garden Party and Glastonbury.

In the Winter of 2009 he co-founded the 'moscow records' imprint where he started releasing his own music and applying his past knowledge and experience to take on the A&R duties. Further nascent productions were also signed to labels such as District Raw and Fear Of Flying, gaining support and praise from the likes of Marco Carola, tINI, DJ T., dOP, and Alex Celler.

Fast-forward to 2012, and moscow has released a series of records to critical acclaim, from other artists like GummiHz, Bengoa, John Monkman, Inxec and Stathis Lazarides. With rave reviews on RA and Ibiza voice, and accompanied by support from a long list of A-List DJ's, the fledgling vinyl imprint made a serious impact in a very short time. Since then, Archie has been deep in the studio honing his craft and working tirelessly behind the scenes.

He currently plays for monthly London warehouse party 'Rhythmatic', which has been tipped by RA to be "among the best parties in London”, Archie shares the decks with guests such as Marco Carola, Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace, Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Thomas Melchior, and many more and has a busy upcoming release schedule.
