New Guernica are excited to welcome back reel-to-reel master and 'Electro Funk' legend Greg Wilson once again this Labour Day long weekend.
One of the true pioneers of DJing as we know it, Greg Wilson began DJing in 1975, cutting his teeth at seminal UK nightclubs Wigan Pier, Legend, and the legendary Manchester club, Hacienda. Greg was instrumental in breaking the new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York, a sound he has dubbed ‘Electro-Funk’. After taking a 20 year hiatus from DJing, in 2003 Greg Wilson returned to the circuit receiving rave reviews, schooling the crowds in modern hot-spots such as Electric Chair, Horse Meat Disco, Ministry of Sound and Sub Club. Before long Greg was in demand worldwide, wowing crowds internationally with his trademark extended tape edits. Production wise, Greg Wilson's original tape edits that have featured in his DJ sets throughout the years were most recently compiled by Tirk Records on the chart topping 'Credit to the Edit' Release. Greg was also named amongst the top twenty remixers of all-time by DJ Magazine, remixing countless artists from Grace Jones and Yello, to more modern acts such Crazy P, Psychemagik and The XX.
Support from Phil K, Agent 86 and backroom controlled by Heavy Freek.
Do not miss what is bound to be another unforgettable evening as Greg Wilson and his Reel to Reel graces New Guernica on Sunday 10th March.
