Live BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix
Afterparty 2nd birthday
Always considered a bench mark for quality DJ/Producers, an invite to guest on a Radio One Essential Mix is something that always brings out the best in a DJ. On Friday April 11th Afterparty celebrate their 2nd Birthday by welcoming the Radio 1 DJ’s Pete Tong and Dave Spoon who along with resident Martin Doorly will record a special Essential Mix LIVE from the Afterparty Warehouse Experience. Their sets will be broadcast live to the world between 3-5AM.
From small Afterparty to big Warehouse party, Galaxy FM’s Best Club in 2008 and Top Ten Club 2007 (Mixmag) ‘AFTERPARTY’ has successfully sown it’s seed in clubland and has now cultivated what is set to be one of the hottest party’s of 2008. This month the face of dance music Pete Tong ascends to Huddersfield with his chief in command Dave Spoon to put on a party that will not only be heard in Huddersfield but listened to by 10 million listeners all over the world.
The event will see over 1000 clubbers gathered in a warehouse building (Bates Mill off Chapel Hill) in true Afterparty style until 7am followed by a special invite only Aftermath at the camel club until 10am.
Martin Doorly says ‘We're most excited about the day after because a random guy in Japan will know all of a sudden what Afterparty sounds like!! And loads of others in countries all over the world!! This is easily THE biggest event ever to happen in Huddersfield, its a massive deal that Pete and Radio 1 wanting to shout about us!!’
A BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix is one of the highest honours that can be given to any DJ, recognising them as a leader in their field and sharing the magic they produce on the turntables with millions round the globe. For Afterparty resident Martin Doorly this has become a reality and will see him and Afterparty firmly put their stamp on the UK dance music scene. The Essential Mix will form part of their ‘In New DJs We Trust’ introducing Essential Mix tour. On Friday 11th April Pete tong will come to Huddersfield to introduce Doorly to the world and this will all be broadcast live to the world between 3 – 5AM from the Afterparty.
This marks a sensational start to the year that has already seen Doorly on a hectic touring schedule which includes many of the UK’s leading clubs, with regular bookings this year at Manchester club Sankeys and Leeds Student Live Venue STYLUS, and supporting dance music Legends such as Fatboy Slim, Armand Van Helden, Groove Armada & Soulwax, In addition to a busy international calendar. Joining Doorly providing more mayhem will be fellow Afterparty promoters & residents Domski and Bongo Dave who certainly know how to whip any crowd in to a frenzy.
In the last 6 months Afterparty has seen Groove Armada, 2manydjs, Sinden and Herve, Annie Mac, Scratch Perverts, Trophy Twins, Dave Spoon and Jon Carter grace the decks.
