After more than three years and having brought over 50 DJ's and Producers and having lived great experiences, it's time to evolve. At Cartuli's we want to take the next step and make what was a party with friends into a solid project that contributes to the scene in London, especially to provide quality electronic music to those in London. With new projects like Cartulis Music, our new label that launches it's first project on vinyl in September and features artists such as Jay Tripwire, Alexkid, Brendom Moeller, Joel Alter, Kasper, Rico Casazza and Kozber.
Also this year we will have events in other cities like Berlin, Barcelona ... But always our headquarters and city is London.
To celebrate this evolution and change of image, we are pleased to bring one of the most influential artists of house music. With over 20 releases behind them, from Chicago:
TEVO HOWARD Live
(Rush Hour, Buzzin' Fly, Release Sustain - Chicago)
Who will bringing his heavy case of analogue gear over for the night. Tevo has been making music for years and DJing since 1987 but it was only when his label "Beautiful Granville" arrived on the scene in 2008/2009 with a spate of dyed in the wool classics such as "Everyday House Music" that his gospel was spread. His sound which pays heavy tribute to trax and the Chicago sound is all firing drum machines - 808's, 909's and 101's but they also have a beautiful melancholy feel that without doubt tug on the heart strings. Some of his most well known tracks have incorporated vocals by none other than his father Rick "Poppa" Howard and Tracy Thorne from Everything But The Girl. He has also released on the mighty Rush Hour, Permanent Vacation and is now focussing on his newest imprint Tevo Howard Recordings. Check out his brand new EP "The Drapes in The Living Room" on Thug records for a fine example of his work.
We also have the pleasure of having one of the new stars of house music.
(Hold Youth, Eklo, Half Baked - Paris)
Leonard Perret aka Le Loup may still only be in his early 20s but there is plenty to prove he’s a frontrunner in the current crop of young Parisian talent currently sweeping the globe. With his warm, funk inspired, groove-led productions with shades of Detroit techno and jazz plus his love of hip-hop and years exploring all facets of house music during his degree in sound engineering, it’s no surprise he was a natural fit for Wolf + Lamb, releasing his first record on the imprint age 21. He launch a new label Hold Youth with close friend Seuil. Hold Youth will be an ‘open-minded’ vinyl only label dedicated to putting out a wide range of music encompassing disco, house, techno, hip-hop and anything in between.
Le Loup has delivered productions and remixes from various label heavyweights including Air Drop, Esperanza and Eklo. His soul-melting yet playful house sound has garnered support along the way from Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus, Lee Curtiss and Jay Haze among others.
