T-Base Bio
Music Style : Drum and Bass, Nu Jazz
Natty Saphakkul, a.k.a. T Base, a veteran DJ born in Bangkok, Thailand, touched his first turntable when he was in grade 7 at a private school party.
In 1999, he started seriously DJing as the resident DJ at "See too bar", "Bangkok Bar" and extensive guest DJ appearances around the Bangkok scene.
T Base's unique style covers a wide range of musical styles. He spins varied sets from down tempo tracks to dance floor grooves: Nu Jazz, Broken Beat, Soul, Deep House and Eclectic Grooves. His influences come from labels such as Blue Note, Compost, Far out, Schema, BBE and many more. It will not surprise if you hear tunes from Jazzanova, 4 Hero, Truby Trio and Azymuth.
In 2001, T Base went to London. This is where became addicted to Drum and Bass grooves. Upon his return to Thailand, he decided to join 2003 Heineken DJ Spin competition in Pattaya. As the only DJ spinning Drum and Bass, he won the prestigious Popular Vote prize based on a panel of judges and audience response. Through his success at this competition and winning the Popular Vote prize, T Base skyrocketed to the forefront of the Drum and Base scene in Thailand.
After concentrating on DJing for several years, he decided to venture into the record shop business and opened Jazzbah Records. Jazzbah Records is the finest, most comprehensive records shop in Thailand with the aim of promoting quality dance, eclectic and down beat music. Established in 2000, Jazzbah is the oldest DJ shop in Bangkok and is located in the heart of Siam Square. Their focus is on providing quality music rather than mainstream trendy releases.
In 2006, T Base collaborated with DJ Kingkong and released a track called "Lost" with the Homebass Communication label; this track was released on their "Asia Bass" compilation. Currently, he is working on studio production and hosting bi-monthly parties under the well known Drum and Bass party name "Low Frequency".
On doing what his love and want to share his skill and experience to the kids and new generation, he has been teaching DJ Class at Bangkok Pattana school, the well-known UK format international school since year 2006.
