Dank Morass are extremely excited to present, fully live and direct from Tokyo, the debut Brisbane show for much-loved Japanese dubstep producer
GOTH-TRAD. The mad raver himself hits the Step Inn (Valley) for the Queen's birthday long weekend on Saturday, June 7th.
Producing music since the late 90s, Goth-Trad released his debut Goth Trad 1 in 2003, setting the stage for a distinct style of frenetic breaks and murky bass. As his reputation spread, he found himself opening for the likes of The Mars Volta and touring Europe in 2004, before releasing two new albums in 2005. The latter, Mad Ravers Dancefloor, helped coin a whole new genre, mad rave, of which Goth remains the leading exponent.
Performing fully live with a portable effects rack and midi controllers, Goth-Trad presents a dynamic show which puts head nodding laptop jockeys to shame. With a string of strong 12”s since 2006 (“Paranoia”, Back to Chill EP, “Cut End” and the mighty “Far East Assassin”), he was one of the first international producers to crack the insular UK dubstep scene, earning kudos from BBC1 tastemaker Mary Anne Hobbs and playing at leading clubs such as DMZ.
Now, Goth-Trad brings his fully live mad rave stylings to Australia for the first time. Supporting him will be Brisbane’s own rave mentalist the Nam Shub of Enki, the industrial atmospherics of sQwurm and DJs Sektile, Kloseline, Swob, Walrii and Danck.
This crazy party will also double as the official Brisbane launch for the new album from FLYING LOTUS - the first artist Dank Morass brought to Brisbane. "Los Angeles" is Fly Lo’s first full-length on Warp Records, and all indications are it’s another wonky, bass driven masterpiece. Come be one of the first to hear tracks from the album and Lotus rarities on the Step Inn’s awesome sound system. Courtesy of Warp Records/Inertia, there will be copies of the album to giveaway on the night.
