EBONY BONES
"Going completely against the grain -
boundaries are being blurred, classes divided and cultures clashed.
Standing not only in the way of control but against the presumed cultural identity.
This is the New Black Britain. Hear them roar."
- i-D Magazine
This girl is like the British equivalent of everything that is NYC.
Her music will make you dance till it hurts
with tracks like ''Don''t Fart On My Heart''
and ''I''m Ur Future X-Wife''..
- Missbehave Magazine (US)
"What do Grace Jones, Timbaland and Jarvis Cocker have in common?
All three are fans of out-there pop singer EBONY BONES!
Miss Bones’ tribal rhythm-inspired, nugget “Don’t Fart On My Heart”
conjures lippy teenagers partying on the top deck of a school-run Routemaster.
Expect to overhear it on an MP3 player near you soon!"
- The Independent
* Top 50 Must-See Things At Glastonbury *
"No.20: Technicolor post punk from EBONY BONES! herself.."
- Q Magazine
"EBONY BONES! Writing, producing and standing over her show-tune electro,
the anti-diva''s potty-mouthed Notting Hill carnivore creations
are a mish-mash of punk and party. Quite simply,
her records could cause X-rated strip-show races in a dusty morgue.."
- NME
"There''s a message to Miss Bones'' madness.
And now Miss Bones'' self released debut single
''We Know All About U'' is already Radio 1''s most played song by an unsigned artist.."
- Mixmag
"I was aiming for the soundtrack to the approach of the Death Star
- vs. the Ewoks having a tea party.."
- Fader (US)
"It''s so random to make a song in your bedroom
and then hear Radio 1 play it as the ''Hottest Record in the World''.."
-The Observer
"Perhaps thee most chattered about act in London right now,
Miss EBONY BONES! is a one of a kind Producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist,
and all-round femme fatale who mixes up post-punk stylings, with pure girl sass.
Enlisting her crew of rhythm section and backing vocalists,
the EBONY BONES! live experience is one part punk rock show,
one part Mardi Gras carnival parade."
- Time Out
"Hold onto your hats kids, its EBONY BONES!
This lady has been going bananas on music blogs everywhere
Compared with everybody from Grace Jones to Jason Alexander (really),
she sounds great, dresses like a bag lady on acid and looks fabulous!"
- Lifelounge Magazine (Australia)
"With obvious pop star potential and a fearless vocal that makes Annabella Lwin sound like lil jailbait,
which I guess she was back in the day, EBONY BONES! is a child of post-punk.
Currently working on her debut album, she has described it as one for “the iPod generation,”
where “every track will be different from the last..”
- Exclaim! Magazine (Canada)
"With a stage show that takes no prisoners,
EBONY BONES! looks set for greatness.."
- The Times
"It''s all about the future,
EBONY BONES! is like an amazing ''nu blave'' Grace Jones.
Check out her jam "Don''t Fart On My Heart!..."
- VICE Magazine..
"I have a new girl crush on a Miss EBONY BONES! We love everything about her.
Like the giant chains, not to mention the bones, the shoes, the tights, and the headpieces.
I have listened over and over again and still can’t get enough.
I hope this bird gets across the pond soon because we''re just quivering to see her live!"
- Bust Magazine (US)
""Picture an explosion in a Crayola factory
and you''re still only halfway to imagining
the amazing rudey post-punk of EBONY BONES!..." "
- The Guardian
"We think London’s finest Miss Ebony Bones has followed the example from that man in O Brother who made a deal with the devil in order to learn how to play the guitar, only she got the funk from Fiery Jack and was so fucking bad-ass in her dealing she even managed to keep her souls strong and handy, but don’t think the devil is losing out in the deal, he likes music like this to exist in the world, it makes the hips of his crew shake like crazy, and tempts those god fearing citizens who get close to the dancefloor, initiating them in a life of excess, sweat and debauchery which as you know if you have read the good book, eventually shall lead their souls to an eternity burning in the pit, if you have any doubts about what we’re saying just look into the chaotic abyss of relentless percussion that Ebony Bones’ debut 7” ‘We Know all About You’ is, this tune is the true heir of Panico’s frantic classic Transpiralo and we look forward to witness it destroying dancefloors everywhere on this 2008 which just got sweetly started, and also to be destroyed by it which is only right."
- 20JazzFunkGreats
"If press releases are to be believed — then Ebony Bones has been blowing it up in the UK, or London at least. And it won’t be long before she’ll own the world. Take the outer space elements of Kelis and the ferocity of Spektrum and the slickness of Grace Jones, well, then you might start to sum up Ebony Bones. This sounds like the real deal folks, something to actually get excited about. “We Know All About You” might feed into your paranoia and have you looking over your shoulder — but there are enough sounds going on in this song that it might be the ultimate pop bastard of a track."

NEW LOOK
New York/Toronto
New Look is Sarah Ruba and Adam Pavao. They met in Toronto in 2005 while involved in their own separate musical projects. Adam had been a part of numerous bands that had all ultimately met their demise. He decided to assemble a studio - a tool that would allow him to be musically independent. But something was still missing. Sarah came from a jazz background and had been singing for years. She knew however that she wanted to forge her own style and become not just a vocalist, but a well-rounded songwriter and musician. When she met Adam, she was given the opportunity to be creative in a much broader sense than ever before. With the studio as a tool, Sarah and Adam found themselves creating music that was completely new to both of them. Soon they relocated to Brooklyn (bringing their studio with them) to be closer to Sarah’s modeling work. As New Look’s sound developed, the studio doubled in size and capacity. Although the duo’s sound is in constant progression, they will be releasing an EP that summarizes their development through 2007. “How’s My Hair?” will be available in 2008.
