Myk Nolan playing the Funkademia classics from our first venue, 13 years ago!
Funkademia takes place every Saturday to a consistently full house, feeding a friendly crowd with a diet of pure unadulterated soul-funk. We bill our night as a ''chronological history of soul'' with our exclusive dj collective taking you on a journey through four decades of the very best soul, funk, disco and hip-hop with a touch of smooth r&b and the odd house classic. The night takes place every Saturday at Manchester’s coolest joint, One Central Street. The venue is located right in the heart of the Manchester City Centre close to the town hall and central library. A sexy clubroom with loads of atmosphere - perfect for our soulful soires. Funkademia does sell out every week so you are advised to arrive early or to visit our website www.funkademia.net for details on how to purchase advance tickets and avoid the queues, or even the sold out signs. Funkademia kicks off at 10pm and runs through until 3.30am. Any further enquiries should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org by email.
2008 has been a very eventful year for Funkademia. We are now not only the longest running club night in Manchester but we have also been crowned the official best clubnight by Galaxy FM. With the inclusion of some new resident DJs in Dave redsoul Wareing and Neil Smallridge, we also witnessed some super guest DJ sets from Manchester legends Dave Haslam and Greg Wilson in particular, and to finish the year in style Norman Jay mbe drops by for the 13th birthday celebrations in November. Roll on 2009?
