2008 was without doubt our most successful year, playing at Bloc, relaunching our website, but most prominently putting on 3 parties with a wide variety of artists and DJs that reflect the broad policy that we aim to continue in 2009. The likes of Pole, Surgeon, DJ Pete, I-F and Scorn all featured last year, as we covered a wide range of musical bases including techno, electro, house, dubstep, industrial and disco.

For our first party of 2009 at Corsica Studios we’re very excited to welcome back 2 friends that have made quite an impact previously with us, namely DJ Stingray and Convextion, alongside another Italo master in the shape of Den Haag’s Intergalactic Gary, up and coming Spanish electro prospect Annie Hall and more local guests in the shape of our own Jo
Johnson.

DJ Stingray

One of Detroit Techno’s more unique characters, Sherard Ingram grew up honing his DJ skills alongside Moodymann at the Outcast club playing hiphop and early electro. His Urban Tribe project has involved many of the Motor City’s cognescenti, including Anthony Shakir and Carl Craig. Whilst well known for his association with the mysterious Drexciya, Sherard has consolidated his position as a purveyor and DJ of fast, punishing electro, most recently with an excellent release on Belgian label WeMe. 2009 sees him return to Bleep43 after a successful debut last year, this time to promote the launch of his new label, Micron Audio, featuring artists such as Annie Hall, Alien Sex Toy and Manchester’s The Midnight Episode.

Convextion

Gerard Hanson is no stranger to Bleep43, having made a much-talked about European debut for us back in 2006. His reputation as a producer of deep techno goes back to 1995 with his debut 12” now a collector’s item, but it wasn’t until the release of his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album 2 years ago on Down Low that we finally got to see what he was really capable of. Whether switching between Convextion or his more electro-orientated E.R.P guise, the last couple of years has seen Dallas-born Gerard establish himself as one of the premier techno live acts in the world, playing at Fabric, Berghain and Japan's Labyrinth festival, garnering a strong reputation for melodically rich material.

Intergalactic Gary

In 2008 we entertained I-F, and this year it’s the turn of his long-time collaborator and fellow Den Haag resident Intergalactic Gary to take to the decks for another marathon of obscure Italo, electro, Chicago House and synthpop nuggets. As one half of the Parallax Corporation alongside I-F, he’s been a central figure in the rebirth of the Italodisco movement, and has been Djing since the mid-80’s.

Annie Hall

As part of the Micron Audio showcase, we’re very pleased to announce Annie’s debut live performance in the UK. Hailing from Madrid, Ana Moreno's melodic electro has already been captured on vinyl by Dublin’s D1 label last year with a debut EP, and on compilations for Semantica and Minuendo. Away from the dancefloor she is concentrating on an experimental project called “Daughter Produkt” which promises a collaboration with Heinrich Mueller.

Jo Johnson

After a much-lauded performance at Bloc last year, Jo is preparing another of her increasingly-talked about live sets for us. With a range of influences that range from Steve Reich to Drexciya and beyond, and a rare insistence on each performance being unique, her sound is always mutating and evolving.

Dask

Part of the Rebel Intelligence crew, who are due to release the first record on their new label by Matt Whitehead shortly, Dask has been a regular at Bleep43 ever since 2002, Djing electro, techno, funk and hiphop.

Bleep43 DJs

Residents Dan Bean and Toby Frith complete the line-up
