live and direct from Kingston, Jamaica!
Witness a true reggae legend and the original voice of BLACK UHURU in his only Sydney performance!
One of the greatest singers in reggae music history, Rose began his career as a solo artist in the early 70s, before joining Black Uhuru as lead singer in 1977. He took the group to international superstardom in the 80s, before leaving in 1985, the same year that Black Uhuru won the first ever reggae Grammy award. Since then, Rose has cemented his place in reggae’s history books with countless hits - most recently, his number one song ‘Shoot Out’ featuring Damian Marley, dominated the Jamaican charts for much of 2007.
One of the most distinctive voices in reggae music, Michael Rose’s “waterhouse” style of singing has inspired countless imitators.
Saturday March 7th at the Factory Theatre, Sydney will be treated to the true original sound of Michael Rose, as he performs in a soundsystem style, singing songs from his vast catalog including hits such as Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, Shine Eye Girl, General Penitentiary, Sensimilla, Solidarity, Short Temper, and many more.
