LASERMAGNETIC - London's cult disco party are jetting into Sydney for one night of total amazing-ness with Pete Herbert (LSB/REVERSO 68) and LM resident Johnny “Chingas" Hiller in tow.
Lasermagnetic's (Johnny 'Chingas' Hiller & Neil Thornton) been running disco parties in London for many moons now, and are regarded as the driving forces behind the recent disco revival. Their parties have achieved cult status over the last 4 years, with their energy reaching levels that have been compared to Rub N Tug's Campfire parties or what the Glimmers have achieved as a DJ duo.
Memorable parties they have thrown include:
Greg Wlson's 'Credit to the edit' album Launch, The Dr. Nishimura & Danny Wang Warhouseparty, Discoconvention: a 3 room disco extravaganza with IF, Alden Tyrell & Horse Meat Disco, Prins Thomas, Lindstrom & Chromatics' first ever UK appearance, Moutain of One and Padded Cell live, Andrew Weatherall or the Metro Area pub party and afterparties with Ame, Dixon and too many more to mention.
Since then the boys have taken their brand of high gloss, cosmic, italo and underground disco (with a twist of Rotterdam & Berlin and Chicago) to places like Fabric, Big Chill festival, Nouveau Casino in Paris, Tape Club & Cookies in Berlin,
Module in Tokyo, Woo in Vilnius, and many more club nights in places like Finland, Lithuania, Shanghai, Okinawa... always spreading disco love.
On the music front, Johnny Chinga's also been getting busy with his re-edits, many of which have been played out by the likes of Pilooski, Pete Herbert, Idjut Boys, Gerry Rooney, Mudd, Toby Tobias & Danny Wang!
Pete Herbert requires little introduction... alongside super hot club terrorist from Barcelona, Baby G, he goes under the name LSB. Records that started out as limited run secret weapons for people in the know - their perfect 12"s F.O.G and Original Highway Delight on Eskimo Recordings and the very cool Superdiscoteca mini-LPs - are now some of the hottest, most danced-to records around. They even have remixes on Rekids (of the incredible Runaway "Brooklyn Club Jam") and have added their own touch to artist like Golden Bug (GOMMA) and Low Motion Disco (ESKIMO)
The tougher, more party orientated sounds of these LSB edits and originals perfectly compliment Pete's more restrained releases under his Reverso 68 guise with Phil Mason. I guess now these are called cosmic delights or balearic masterpieces but on closer inspection these 12's - including the mind-blowing "Piece Together" (Eskimo Recordings) with the stunning Todd Terje remix - are just timeless releases, heavy on bass and emotion from a man that is clearly at the top of his game.
This is one party not to miss!!!!
And it’s Friday the 13th… expect the unexpected - especially from the beyond amazing local line-up!!!
