And now, the end is near…

Well, it had to happen sooner or later, and so it is with more than a tinge of regret, but weeping tears of joy, that we proudly present the FINAL, funkiest, fruitiest, most ridiculous night at the Salmon and Compass EVER. The Salmon and Compass has been a late night music venue for over 20 years, but this really is the end as it moves into new ownership and a new life as a responsible, grown-up gastro pub, with no music at all and sadly a change of name. Over its two decades or so it can justly lay claim to having been one of London’s best small music venues hosting countless top quality nights and incredible DJs and bands, so you can most certainly not expect it to be bowing out with anything other than maximum style and dance floor joy.

So, with thanks to all the DJs, musicians, mangers, staff from over the years, and also to you, the music-loving punters, we cordially invite you to join us on Saturday 4th April 2009 as we celebrate, (try to) remember, and of course dance our feet off for the final time, and give the old place the send off it deserves.
The Salmon has always been about doing it for love of the music and, with longest serving residents Gid & Will B of Pigeonhold, Andy Newcombe (DiscoBox) & Chris Passenger (Full Fat) leading the charge in Room 1 along with ace percussionist Ray Lakhan (Rhythm Masters) this will be no exception.

In Room 2 you’ll find some of our favourite Dj’s from the past getting their groove on. Raising temperatures & funkin up the place Dj Selectors; Leroy Hartland, Matt Tarr & Paul Howland (Disque Records), Jorge Montiel (Imagenes), Kay Suzuki (Bipolar) & D Boogie (Fidgit). All ensuring that there’s not one room of good music, but….TWO for you’re listening pleasure.


So dress up-up-UP and set sail for one last time as the good ship S&C strikes a gastro pub iceberg and goes down with all hands. But the band plays on…
