David Rodigan, Earl Gateshead, Stuart Patterson, Dave Hill, J-Star, Mr Faso, Nick B
On Sunday the 5th of April Rootikal welcomes the return of David Ram Jam Rodigan who will host the launch party for his 'Real Authentic Reggae vol. 2' compilation on BBE records.
As most will know, David Rodigan has been a kingpin of the reggae scene for decades and has been broadcasting on the radio for the last thirty years. These shows have been instrumental in spreading his message and have helped the music to gain popularity on a wider level by introducing new generations to the constantly evolving sounds of the reggae he loves. The music contained on his 'Real Authentic Reggae vol. 2' covers over forty years of musical production and reflects David's broad taste and deep knowledge. It includes many rare collector's classics like Augustus Pablo's 'No Entry' and Simplicity People's 'Shock Shentetacky'.
Rodigan will be supported by the Rootikal residents - Earl Gateshead, David Hill, Stuart Patterson and Mr Faso. Earl has been playing reggae dances since the late 70s and travels the World as chief selector with the Trojan Sound System. David is an ex-Ballistic Brother and founder of the Nuphonic label, he also worked on the Auralux reggae label remastering and reissuing he productions of King Jammys, Lee Perry and Junjo Lawes. Stuart, generally known for his dance music styles and as a cornerstone of the Faith collective, will be dusting off his Jamaican collection and to bring niceness to the bar area alongside J-Star, Mr Faso and Nick B.
Together they will be spinning a rootikal selection covering all bases of righteous music - no slackness only positivity. The session kicks of early in the lounge at 2pm so expect the usual quality Sunday roasts to be joined by a special jerk chicken for the occasion.
Get there early - this will be roadblock.
