David Moufang aka Move D is one of the most talked about producers of the moment. However he is no overnight success in fact he has been plying his trade for over 16 years producing under countless pseudonyms covering all bases from Deep House minimalism to Jazz electronica and ambient.
His productions and sets are difficult to pigeonhole. The music he plays has to be" emotionally involving,” he states. “From Bach over Monk to Larry Heard, Underground Resistance and Squarepusher, music has to touch me emotionally" This is evident when he DJ's and in his live sets which was voted 3rd best Live act in the world on Resident Advisor in 2008.
Releases on Warp, Compost, Modern Love plus loads more have cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting producers of recent years and an in demand remixer. His 1995 album "Kunstoff" just recently re-released is receiving the plaudits it deserved and is considered by some as one of dance musics most timeless pieces.
We reckon his ethos perfectly suits Subculture “Music to me is all about variety – be it as a DJ or a producer. I would not be happy to do just one thing and I often get bored when I am out and I hear a DJ who is playing one single style all night. Recording artists that I admire have the power to reinvent themselves – like Miles Davis, The Beatles, Talk Talk and Richard D James.”
