Line-up /
Eardrum / Heads High Soundsystem / LR feat Dylan Sage & Josefin / Cal Jader
Heads High is a movement that has fast evolved into a refreshing audio-visual experience, challenging divisions within the confines of performance and beyond. Each Heads High Soundsystem set blurs the line between live musicianship and the DJ’s mix, the parts melding with each other to create a smooth, integrated sensory experience. Their flagship Vibe Live sessions continue to build momentum, presenting blisteringly fresh music to a diverse and open-minded audience.

Putting March’s celebration of all things synth to one side, Heads High come correct with a session marrying ancient tribal rhythm with the sound of now for April. Consistently breaking barriers and freeing-up their stage to artists pushing the creative envelope, the Heads High Live experience gets hotter with each new session.

Cosmic Afro-Jazz in a London style, the music of headline guests Eardrum speaks of harsh urban surroundings whilst dreaming of African suns and open skies. With a nine-piece line-up that includes Tony Allen collaborator Richard Olatunde Baker (Talking Drum), Jason Yarde (Saxphone/Percussion/Flute), ex-Lagos Shrine player Ayokunie Odia (Saxophone) and a host of dancefloor igniting percussionists, they come replete with outstanding talent and a wealth of experience! Incorporating elements of Sun Ra, West African tribal drums and the Dub experiments of King Tubby, Eardrum’s sound is at once electric and experimental whilst offering connections to our deepest ancestral memories.

Keeping the flow, residents and hosts the Heads High Soundsystem continue to blur the boundaries between live performance and the art of DJ but this time with a distinctly tribalistic twist. Yoruban drums meet mighty Moog basslines and traditional chants underpin future thinking rap in a synergy of past, present and future. Founded and directed by Duke Etienne, the combination of Jamaican songstress and Lee Perry collaborator Connie Bell, spoken word dynamo 4Real (Rebel Music), turntablist DJ Judge (Sensei FM) and musician/arranger Wayne Francis (United Vibrations) equates to a next-level journey into rhythm and rhyme.
