Claude VonStroke, a truly inspirational producer, remixer and DJ will be returning to Cotton Cake after his first Scottish showcase appearance in 2007. We will be celebrating the release of the Claude's 'Fabric 46' mix as well as our fourth year of parties!

Claude (real name Barclay Crenshaw) first came to most people's intention with his bizarre yet strangely addictive low-slung tech house cut 'Deep Throat' on his Dirtybird imprint back in 2005, and has since wowed the dance music masses with a slew of quirky, innovative, and most importantly downright groovy singles such as the classic, spooky 'Who's Afraid Of Detroit?', the raucous 'Chimps' and the dangerously catchy 'The Whistler' (as heard on T-Mobile's new adverts). His music strikes that difficult balance between being credible while retaining a humorous element, sticking one in the eye of po-faced minimalists across the world. Elements of electro, hip-hop and ghettotech are blended with that jackin West Coast vibe to create a truly unique, naughty tech-house sound that is entirely of his own.

He is a prolific and highly-desired remixer too having remixed the two biggest tracks of 2006 and 2007 Fedde Le Grand's 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit' and Samim's 'Heater' respectively, as well as superb reworkings of tracks by Norman Cook, Luke Solomon, and The Rapture to name but a few. The Guardian said of his debut longplayer 'Beware Of The Bird' not since Daft Punk donned robot suits has there been such a quirky, engaging electronic album as this, while Richie Hawtin touted 'Who's Afraid Of Detroit?' as his favourite track of 2006. This guy is by no means short on credentials.

Cotton Cake have had a fantastic four years putting on parties and inviting guests and friends to play alongside them. Among them have been Mr.Oizo, Superpitcher, Kissy Sell Out and most recently Kavinsky to name a few! We have had a fantastic time and look forward to continue showcasing some of the best acts in electronic dance for many years to come!

Tue, 19 May 2009Absolutely top night!

Barclay was on top form and played the highest quality of techno all night, most of it unreleased and never to be released, quoted by the man himself!

We all had such a great time.
