Future Classic and Fuzzy have joined forces to create a new series of parties, Discoasis, dedicated to all things new in the world of disco. The series showcases the finest in international talent alongside the new breed of Australian artists, djs and producers who are playing an equally important role in defining this new sound and, most importantly, keeping us dancing.

After a smoking inaugural session from Norwegian Todd Terje, a dj with arguably the most astute ear out there at the moment, we now welcome one of the leading proponents coming out of New York City, together with a lineup of new locals getting global respect.

JACQUES RENAULT aka RUNAWAY (DFA / NYC)

Visiting Australian shores for the first time this May, Jacques Renault is one of New York’s most respected and hard working DJs. Voted New York’s best DJ by Paper Magazine, Renault is a key member of the legendary DFA family and is one half of much hyped production outfit Runaway.

First catching the attention of DFA’s James Murphy and Tim Sweeney with his output on cult re-edit imprints Wurst Edits and RVNG of the Nerds, it didn’t take long before DJs and dancefloors around the world were wising up to the sounds of Jacques Renault.

2008 was a big year for Renault under his Runaway moniker with the monster club hit “Brooklyn Club Jam “ being released by both his home label DFA and Radioslave’s UK imprint Rekids. As well as his original material Renault has turned in remixes for the likes of Moby, LCD Soundsystem, Chairlift and Sydney’s own Lost Valentinos and Canyons. Many of the world’s most respected electronic record labels have Jacques in high demand with Permanent Vacation, DFA, Rekids, Italians Do It Better and Im A Cliché all having commissioned remixes from this New York local.

CANYONS (HOLE IN THE SKY / SYDNEY)

A DJ and production duo that have taken Sydney by storm in the last year, Canyons’ free spirited DJ sets and releases on their own Hole In The Sky (H.I.T.S) label have solidified them internationally as one of the acts to watch in 2009. Sharing close ties to our headliner Jacques Renault, Canyon’s have a Jacques Renault remix coming out on their H.I.T.S label and they’ve also caught the attention of DFA head honcho James Murphy with a Canyons 12” due out on the cult NYC imprint. The DFA 12” will featuring an exclusive remix from none other than Jacques Renault.

JUNJI MASAYAMA (BEARFUNK / MELBOURNE)

Junji Masayama is a producer from Tokyo now calling Melbourne home. One of Melbourne’s finest disco DJs, Junji has just put out his debut 12” on Stevie Kotey’s massively respected Bearfunk imprint.
