Fri, 28 Aug 2009Didn't heard anything like theo's set for a while.... That was one of the best parties of the year for sure...

Fri, 28 Aug 2009the sound was def a problem on sunday but i would have to blame theo
he was hitting the mixer hard and it was certainly a unique and interesting set but dj's at the top of the game have to respect the soundsystem.

theo's style is to blast into it and i was pretty sure he was gonna blow the tops! i could see the guys trying to watch the levels and bring it back but theo was in full swing!

next time you are at a gig and theo starts hammering it maybe you could go up and tell him to calm... More

Wed, 26 Aug 2009For me personally the big thing about Sunday was THEO PARRISH himself - the guy just played with so much passion and vigor. I think the only DJ I've seen be that committed and passionate this year in NYC was Jeff Mills. Theo's set was all over the place in the best sense including everything from Northern Soul to Chicago Jack and his own recent tunes. Yes his mixing style pushed the equipment to it's limits but Theo was in the moment - he went for it full on, dancing, jumping up and down and... More

Wed, 26 Aug 2009Hey, all.

This is Justin from Sunday Best. Just wanted to take a moment to address some of the comments here on the board.

For the Jus-Ed event when Eamon was playing and for the Justin Martin and Kyle Hall events, the sound cut out. (The same thing happened when we had Kyle Hall and Justin Martin.) This was due to a power issue at the venue that was VERY complex. We had to work with the venue for over a month and a half to finally get it solved. Until it was solved, we had to run the... More

Tue, 25 Aug 2009I'm really finding it hard to believe that you're going to blame your guest DJ's (twice, I might add [LoSoul & his Serato]) and the mixer for the inexcusably limp sound system.

For starters, Urei's are some of the higher end mixers on the market, and they're meant to be abused. Saying its 'easy to distort a Urei' is unbelievabley daft. If it were a Pioneer DJM-500, I could see your point, but you're talking about a high quality mixer with quality components meant to be abused to the highest... More

Tue, 25 Aug 2009This summer, I've gone to a few of the Sunday Best parties and have gone to a bunch of other outdoor events, including some Williamsburg and South Street Seaport indie rocks shows and that 200 Guitars orchestral piece at Lincoln Center. Outdoor sound is often an issue. It's rarely loud enough or clear enough...unless you happen to fight, squirm, or luck into an optimal spot.

When Sunday Best gets crowded - and the Parrish show was very packed with unbearable drink lines, it can be hard to... More
