To celebrate five years of our own existence, please join us for the first annual Soul-Identity Summer Shakedown Boat Party on the Golden Jubilee Boat on Saturday 18th July 2009.
Fresh from his appearance at Croatia's Garden Festival, we have a very special guest lined up in the form of the one and only Mr Greg Wilson. We don't bander the word legend around lightly but anyone who has a passing interest in contemporary dance culture, should know Greg Wilson's name and his achievements. After beginning DJing in 1975, Greg became a pioneer in the art of "mixing" and his legendary radio mixes for Manchester radio soon lead him to hold down hugely popular residencies at Wigan Pier and Manchester’s majorly influential clubs Legend and the fabled Hacienda club. After a self imposed retirement in 1983, Mr Wilson returned to the world of dance music in 2003 and released his famed "Credit To The Edit" series on Tirk in 2005. The rest as they say is history...
To read up a little more, please feel free to visit Greg's website over at http://www.electrofunkroots.co.uk.
DJ support on the disco deck comes from one of Brighton's finest DJs, Keep It Wheel's Steve Ellis.
Down below you have the varied talents ot the Cigarettes and Sunshine Soundsytem and Soul-Identity's own Rob Coley, providing an eclectic 4 hour summer soundtrack of party classics, incorporating everything from raw funk and sassy soul, right through to block party hip hop, latin breaks and beats and acid house bangers. The boat party ends at 6pm, but we'll be organising a cheeky afters session to go into the early hours of the morning with some very special guests.
This is an 'Advance Ticket' event only and capacity is limited to 220 guests so be quick and snap up those tickets. Tickets are priced at £20 plus booking fee and are available via Ticketweb.co.uk and Skiddle.com.
