14 years after releasing one of the finest solo albums by any member of the Wu Tang Clan, Raekwon is set to unleash its sequel, with the release of ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2’ this summer. Arguably one of the most influential hip hop LPs of the 90s – and one of the first hip-hop concept albums - ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Links’ sold over one million albums in the US alone, and its follow-up draws on a sensational cast of collaborators, including production by Dr. Dre, The Rza, J Dilla, Big Boi (Outkast), Erick Sermon, Busta Rhymes and Pete Rock; with guest appearances by Fellow Wu Tang members Methodman & Ghostface Killah (on new single ‘The New Wu’), Outkast and Nas. With the release of the new record on the horizon, it’s a privilege for matter to welcome Raekwon to headline a hip-hop all-nighter with a live performance, showcasing the rare and raw MC talents of man they call ‘The Chef’.
Also gracing the evening’s line-up will be the beatbox flow of Rahzel - formerly of live hip-hop collective The Roots - who’ll be making a special guest appearance for a live PA. Known aptly as the Godfather of Noyze, Rahzel has taken the dark arts of beatboxing to a higher level, with the virtuoso New Yorker’s incredible talent for musical mimickry rendering back-up tracks redundant and making him a true must-see presence on any bill.
Joining the two US stars will be UK hip hop heroes including YNR label founder Jehst, Mongrel’s Lowkey, Micall Parknsun, The Last Skeptik and Divertion Tactics’ DJ Jazz T completing a righteous bill for an all-night embrace of hip hop – past, present and future.
