With so much good music coming from berlin/frankfurt at present it would be easy not to look beyond these powerbases, however we thought we would break the mould for this one, and join the french revolution! This party is showcasing 2 amazing FRENCH/PARIS BASED dj's & producers with 1 with serious pedigree and the other having burst onto the scene recently, BOTH MAKING LIVERPOOL DEBUTS... this is mUmU...PARIS CALLING...
D'JULZ started his career in 1992. His music is at the crossing of house and deep techno with strong acid and funk influences.
After one year spinning in Paris early raves and clubs such as Rex, Queen and Palace, D’Julz releases the first mix CD in 1993. The same year he moved to New York, spinning at the famous NASA raves and in such clubs as Club USA, Tunnel, Limelight and Nells.
Back from the States, his reputation spread to other major European clubs: Caf dAnvers, Fuse, Food, Plastic People, The End, Chemistry, Mazzo, Nighttown and Space, Pacha, Km5 in Ibiza.
Since 1997, Djulz has been promoting his own monthly night at Rex: Bass Culture.
In 2000, Djulz began his production career, releasing tracks and remixes on major labels such as Ovum, Serial, 20/20 Vision, Paper, Music for Freaks, End Recordings.
As a producer, Djulz is responsible for the underground hit ‘Acid Trix’ on Ovum as well as remixes of the classics ‘Computer Madness’ and ‘Jesus Loves the Acid’, which have found their way into the boxes of Josh Wink, Carl Cox, Carl Craig, Derrick Carter, Tiefschwarz, Ivan Smagghe and Steve Bug to name a few.
SEUIL smashed his way through 2007/2008 with a series of great releases.
He comes from the Reunion Island, a French colony, where he lived till he was 18. Then he packed his stuff and moved to Paris, where he has been for the last 7 years, exploring the electronic sounds of the French capital.
A wide ranging classical musical background, like 8years of playing piano, jazz and blues formation, as well as a few years of percussions gave him the feedback to work on electronic music.
He always tries to find a personal groove when it comes to his music. His interest in house / techno started with the discovery of the Perlon crew. With influences like Pantytec, Melchior, Cabanne, Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Dear, Daze Maxim show us two different sides in Seuil's music : dark & rolling along with modern shaking house, but always with the same groovy spirit, heavy bass lines and obscure sounds collage, and to note that he is always inspired by his Argentinean/south american friends that he collaborates quite often. For just 1 year, he has been producing tracks to incorporate his own style to perform live.
In 2007, he launched his own label one step ahead to launch own label and hosting artists like Lauhaus, Jorge Savoretti, Heartthrob, Cabanne, Miss Fitz, Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss as well as his own creations.
completing the line up is cler lever, resident and co promoter of RHUMBA along with the ever present and reliable mUmU residents, HARRISON & LEE RANDS
