Hot on the heels of our May Bank Holiday blockbuster comes the first in an excellent series of Eastern Electrics presents shows.

Across the year and beyond Eastern Electrics will be presenting a wide selection of gigs, club shows and warehouse parties across the UK. To show we mean business, we've started with a worldwide legend and his Album release party - Kevin Saunderson 'History History'

To celebrate his mammoth portfolio of musical genius, KMS & Fabric Recordings join forces and unleash a retrospective of Kevin's work with a brand new compilation ‘History Elevate’ featuring a heavyweight selection of classics.

Respected around the World as one of the three Detroit Techno innovators, Kevin Saunderson is a legend in his own right, who has helped to reshape the future of Dance music as we know it. He introduced acts like Inner City and has had many other aliases too, such as; 'Tronik House,' 'The Reese Project,' 'EssRay,' 'Kaos' and more recently, 'E-Dancer'.

Kevin's biggest achievement to date, and his most commercially recognized project has been Inner City, who will be playing a very rare and exclusive LIVE show at eastern electrics featuring Paris Grey & Ann Saunderson.Without doubt one of the World's most influential Dance acts of all time. As one of the most important prime time movers in the house and techno revolution of 1988, Kevin Saunderson and Paris Grey now in their 19th year together, they're justifiably proud of a healthy career spanning early pioneering hits like "Big Fun", "Good Life" and "Ain't Nobody Better", through to "Hallelujah" and "Pennies From Heaven" to name but a few. Inner City have had 12 Top 40 hits in the UK, as well as having had two Top 20

To celebrate 20 years of Kevin Saunderson’s music productions with the History Elevator Tour we also welcome a very, very special guest - Claude VonStroke. What started as a fake name and small booking at a friend’s birthday party has spiraled into an international DJ career for Claude VonStroke (aka Barclay Crenshaw)

One night in San Francisco after a long night of partying, Barclay and his friends began to make up fake European DJ names. Just kidding around, Barclay came up with “Claude VonStroke.” It ended up sticking after someone at the party booked him to DJ and used the new moniker on the flyer. Barclay fell in love with the beat by listening to popular broadcasts of the Electrifying Mojo’s Midnight Funk Association on local radio. Claude has gone onto headline almost every major club, festival and basement after-party in the world from Fabric to Panorama Bar to D’Edge. The outdoor dirtybird parties in San Francisco’s scenic Golden Gate Park have also become a legendary summer destination point for both locals and international travellers. A VonStroke DJ set is based on meticulous track selection and outrageous risk taking taking time to find the special ass-wiggling cuts that keep the dance-floor percolating.

This event will surely be remembered for years to come as a celebration of the one of the greatest ambassadors of techno to come out of Detroit.

Tue, 28 Jul 2009Yep , that was a really good party with very good vibes !
the first 20 minutes of Kevin Sauderson were absolutly amazing !!
the sound system was effectively an issue for the Inner city live mainly ... could barely listen to Paris' voice on Rock to the beat.
still, 20 pounds for the door tickets ... far too overpriced !!

Mon, 20 Jul 2009to be honest, i think that funktion one's do not sound as good on a live setup. kevin saunderson's set and vonstroke's set sounded fine. im sure it could have been better, but it was only the levels when inner city were on that were of worse quality. in my opinion anyway. still a good night.

Mon, 20 Jul 2009We deliberately chose Funktion 1 boxes to get the best possible sound in a challenging temporary space. As the Sound is brought in just for the event it is always going to be difficult to recreate the the sound you may hear in a purpose built space like Matter. Also the trade off of being able to see the Sun come in through the roof and party in unique space is that we can't reach the volume entertained by some permanent spaces. However we will speak to the Sound Company and look at what else... More
