Jody and Pole Folder - Miami WMC Perspectives
Wanna know what really went down at this years Miami Winter Music Conference? RA caught up with a select group of leading DJs and Producers and made them spill the beans...
Pole Folder
Personally, how was the WMC for you?
It was great, really interesting to get in touch with so many labels, producers, DJs, in just a few days. Also being able to have the opportunity to take a beer with them under the sun, was really cool.
What fresh DJ's/Producers/Live Acts caught your attention at Miami?
I met Luke Fair there for the first time. He is hot at the moment.
Highlight tune from this year's Conference?
I had the chance to listen the remix of Eddie Amador's 'House Music' by Filterheadz. I think it will be massive this summer.
Was there a low point for you at this year's WMC?
Not really. Except the price of the drinks. :)
What was the best party or highlight during the WMC?
I loved the Bedrock party at Nerve. And the Yoshitoshi party at the Albion with Deep Dish, Danny Howells and Danny Tenaglia.... was an excellent moment.
Which of the established DJ's/Producers/Live Acts delivered the goods again ?
John Digweed played an amazing set at the Bedrock party. I also enjoyed the set of Stave Lawler at the GU [Global Underground] party.
Do you have any funny stories from the Conference?
Not really, I had great time but am having a hard time remembering everything. But it was pretty crazy that the waiters in the bars would always demand to see my ID when I was ordering a beer.

Personally, how was the WMC for you?
I had an absolutely wicked time! Great gigs, fantastic feedback, house music all night long. The weather was lovely and the quality of the women blew my mind!!!
What fresh DJ's/Producers/Live Acts caught your attention at Miami?
Infusion were really strong, great stage presence and energy! Heard Steve Lawler a few times, very cool. Armand van Helden rocked the Shelbourne in the afternoon sun with a dope house set. And Deep Dish, Sister Bliss, Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg and Remy all impressed!!
Highlight tune from this year's Conference?
One tune I heard about 10 times is apparently the P Diddy tune with Deep Dish on the mix. 'Lets Get Ill!'. Sounded great, utilising an old Nu Groove loop to great effect.
Was there a low point for you at this year's WMC?
Yeah, coming home...
What was the best party or highlight during the WMC?
Maze on Friday, where I played alongside James Holden, John Creamer, Deepgroove from Bristol, and many more... Top night!
Which of the established DJ's/Producers/Live Acts delivered the goods again ?
Oops, think I answered this one already. However, I heard Hybrid's first live show for two years went down a treat at the Ultra Festival.
Do you have any funny stories from the Conference?
Yeah. Distinctive records boss Richard Ford had to be rushed into hospital to have an ingrowing hair removed from his derriere! hahaha...
Also in the WMC Perspectives series:
- Hellpass and Paul Louth.
- Infusion and DJ Remy.
- Hernan Cattaneo and Chris Fortier.
