On the wave of his new Homegrown CD release, and off the back of a very strong year, Steve Porter brings us an insight into the conference from his Perspective. His Porterhouse night at State was a huge success and going of the number of woman in audience - his profile as hot DJ is definitely on the rise... the man also knows how to turn it on presented with a set of decks - who'd have thought.
On his encore at Porterhouse:
"Totally Bananas"
- Steve Porter, WMC 2005
What was your best gig at this year's WMC?
The Porterhouse party just because of how many friendly faces I saw that night. It was an incredible show from start to finish.
What party or venue would you liked to have played at?
I would have liked to play Ultra this year since I did the 3 years previous, hopefully we'll get'em next year.
Which track do you remember going off the most?
'Surface To Air' by The Chemical Brothers when I dropped it as an encore at Porterhouse. Totally Bananas.
How much would you have been prepared to slip security to see yourself play?
I'd be completely sure that I wouldn't get arrested. I'm not worth the jail time I know that much.
Who had you laughing this year?
My buddy Bons who wore his mullet wig the entire conference. He was a walking joke.
Name one other use for your hotel key besides getting in?
They function wonderfully as a temporary garden hoe or spare fork.
Was the WMC for you all about... a. tan lines b. drink lines c. guestlist lines d. other?
d. Cancelled gigs for my friends who could have used them.
What was the best comment said to you by a random clubber or fan?
"I felt like I was witnessing history" (a fan...regarding Porterhouse)
Are there any rumours about yourself or others that you'd like to clear up?
Rumor free thankfully.
