Mon, 05 Mar 2012as long as you have a good PC or Mac, then you can cut corners elsewhere to save costs. I live in a high traffic apartment, so I can't blast monitors. Therefore I mix thru Hi-Def headphones. They're good enough to lay ideas down until I'm able to get into a proper studio for mixing. But even if you DO cut corners, there's times when you have to pay up for good hardware ( controllers, etc).

Tue, 21 Feb 2012Agreed, expensive monitors are something that should be aquired later on. Some never even bother and just mix with crappy computer speakers to make sure they will sound alright on crap stereos. It all depends on whether or not you prefer working mostly inside the box or not, as far as hardware goes.

Fri, 17 Feb 2012and lol at blowing your whole budget on some speakers and interface and some shit midi controller. There's alot of cool cheap shit on ebay right now kids if you do your homework. £1000 would get you a room full of interesting instruments that are still competent and would give you much more inspiration than this lot.

Also, you can decent 2nd hand monitors, older interfaces and midi controllers for alot lot less....

Dont swallow it
