Following collaborations with Gadi Mizrahi, Deniz Kurtel and Lee Foss, Ruckus EP is his first solo effort sinc..

The press release said it would be out on the 19th so it must have been put back. Pretty sure it's only the Discoid Dub that's vinyl only so you should be able to get digital versions of the other three tracks.

| #14 / Wed, 21 Apr 10 15:49 whats the point in keeping something vinyl only? its like serving a full english with no sausages or something... irritating as that was the one track I wanted...
If someone is prepared to pay for something that isn't available what are they meant to do? It could be why blogs are full of links to tracks that are only available on vinyl!

buy the record?

| #16 / Wed, 21 Apr 10 16:38 whats the point if i haven't got decks? I'm using traktor and an mp3 controller...
say i do buy the vinyl... and do have decks to record it to mp3... wouldn't it just be easier to make the mp3 available in the first place?
increased potential audience the moment it goes up as available to download...
yes i know its almost immediately going to be available on blogs as well, but it will happen anyway - and I will be able to buy it!

| #18 / Wed, 21 Apr 10 18:10 I guess the vinyl-only labels/release tracks are just trying to maintain some kind of upper-hand in a losing battle against digital. I quite like it - means that if you really like it enough you'll go the extra mile to be able to get it..even if that means buying vinyl ripping gear to be able to play it out.
If there was no vinyl exclusivity at all it might become redundant even faster than it currently is, which would be a shame.

I used to think like that until a friend at a label broke it down for me. If you could see the difference in revenue between a vinyl release that is popular enough to sell a few copies and your average digital release you'd understand. It doesn't help that the main shops are still so overpriced (Beatport, I'm looking at you...) but you'd be amazed at how few copies a release needs to sell in Beatport to get into their charts. Making something a vinyl only release at least gives it a chance of selling a few and making some money before the pirates are all over it.

Not to mention that most DJs today grew up in a culture of vinyl where they were used to digging for tunes, working hard for white labels and hunting down limited editions. I think most of the great producers today still love this culture and don't want it to perish. Putting out vinyl-only exclusives is a small way to thank those buyers keeping this wonderful tradition alive. .

Word, I've been doing some digging today and bought the first couple of dozen records I've bought in years, and goddam if it didn't feel amazing going through those weird smelling old disco records. Digital is great and all, but I miss vinyl being #1.

Denis Kurtzel for instance.
3 out of 5 for me.

| #33 / Wed, 28 Apr 10 11:14 Say What? Is pure dope on plastic...
One of the advantages of making a release vinyl only IS that it makes it harder to get... as a DJ you are only as good as the tracks you play... so if you have a bomb that no one else has (or very few people) you already have USP! And it gives the label the opportunity to actually make some money from sales!
(Hot Natured is also a digital label, and this is the parent label of Hot Creation... so expect a digital release at some point)

| #39 / Fri, 14 May 10 07:08 I used to have a hang-up about playing more than two track's from the same producer on my mix CD's. (Utter non-sense - I know I know I know..) Then last year Jamie changed all that. paper trail, amazon, absolute Zero (Ft. Alison Mars), Turning Tables, Hot Natured 001 and the sublime anthem that is Summertime.
