this should be very interesting

...sound not scene
ASC - Nothing Is Certain cover
RA Review
And so the Autonomic juggernaut rolls on. First we had this . Then this . And then this (albeit from a slightly outside angle). Now it's ASC's turn. He's the guy—James Clements, by name—behind last year's sumptuous, underrated Porcelain / Focus Inwards (of the same label), not to mention some..

BEEN WAITING A WHILE FOR ANOTHER INTELLIGENT DANCE MUSIC ALBUM AND HERE IT IS. LOVELY BEATS AND SYNTH SOUNDS THAT SIT TOGETHER PERFECTLY. IF IT IS 170BPM IT DOES NOT SEEM IT. FLUID SOULFUL ABSORBING D&B AND DUB INFLUENCES. SIT BACK AND ENJOY.

This, the autonomic podcasts, that actress single, and the sabre album have been my summer rotation. Love each of them.

Can we come up with something more interesting to call their sound than 'post dnb new wave' though? It seems like a very uninspired name for a sub-genre.

Ya know there's so many electronica genres being swirled around in the nonplus sound, especially when you think about the wide array of influences outlined in the autonomic podcasts. This sound is as much post-IDM, and post-breakbeat as it is post-DnB.

How about we just call it, 'Post Genre' or "Post"?

Hmm. Not sure if it really matters, to be honest. I say "post-D&B New Wave" simply because, in the absence of a more specific term ("Autonomic" isn't always terribly helpful), it serves the purpose of denoting the type of music in question fairly transparently. "Post Genre" sounds pretty silly/pretentious, and has no useful descriptive function, which kind of defeats the point. Call it what you want. We're talking about the same thing.

Sorry mate - bit cryptic for my own good sometimes. "FSOL" as in The Future Sound of London; "BoC" as in Boards of Canada; "AGCG" as in A Guy Called Gerald; and "Kranky" as in the US post-rock/electronica imprint of that name... Hope that makes things a bit clearer!

Nice one Clem!

btw/ Isn't Kranky based out of Chicago? At least they where in the mid-90's.

Wasn't familiar with ASC or their origins for that matter. I pulled down the linked set from the review (March 2010). I must say that this is great music from my perspective. Formally inventive, especially down in the lower Hz range!! My studio monitors were alive during that set, man let me tell you. It appeases me to hear a such a grasp on the genre as these seem to have. Hope to hear another set in the near future.

There is a thin line between what creates emotional response within clearly balanced frequencies of the fabric and boldness of the rhythm. There can be no capitalism in this room! Gamma Burst mix by Corey Laliberte - http://official.fm/tracks/hZUh

Re-listened to this after ages (didn't really click for me the first few times), and just had to come by and say that this album is amazing.
