| #354 / Sun, 06 Mar 11 00:18 ok so he is doing something different - does nobody think he's defying his own philosophy somewhat though by allowing himself to be booked left, right and centre by promoters who almost religiously usually book stylish deep-house names and have no real interest in leftfield electronica at all?
I think credit should go out to the people who have done this all before for years but without the vast critical acclaim.

| #356 / Sat, 26 Mar 11 23:35 Just a few thoughts on the discussion that's been going on here over Jaar's "authenticity":
Firstly, the kid has a great ear. Rather than get all sour and try to investigate the psychological choices behind his selections I just let the music play and see how i react. I reacted positively. The flow, the lyrics, the vibe, the songs themselves...this was a damn good mix of songs. That's the most important thing, and every other point about Jaar is subordinate to that fact. That is if you consider joy and pleasure the primary purposes of listening to music in the first place.
As for throwing the term genius around, I'd agree that such a claim is overblown, but who are you even responding to? Is saying that we've got a great talent on our hands equivalent to proclaiming this 22 year old a genius? It just seems like some people are out to hate so they can elevate themselves above the silly homogenous "fans". Jaded 21st century culture at its very worst.
Finally, Jaar's album should dispel the claims that his music has no "soul" and is pretentious. The guy has great taste in music, got a sense of humor, and can make oddly danceable music at a really low BPM. This podcast is just a manifestation of his eclectic taste which anyone can hear in his original tracks.
Rather than assume the worst, that Jaar is a image obsessed posuer, I'll take the opposite more positive route and assume that these songs struck him somewhere deep and decided to put them all together so that we lucky people could enjoy it.
as is true everywhere in life h8rs gunna h8
good art makes people mad. i'd venture to say jaar is succeeding in making some of you mad which brings a smile to my face.

What a ridiculously silly and pretentious thing to say. He enjoys playing his music for people and you're saying he shouldn't be booking himself so he can conform to some elitist and purist stereotype of "leftfield" music. Get over yourself man.

| #360 / Mon, 10 Oct 11 21:36 a bit late on this...just d/l'ed and halfway through- seems decent enough. Nothing genius, just a decent selection.

| #361 / Thu, 13 Oct 11 18:55 Over a year later and I'm still listening to and loving this. It's made my top 10 mixes on iTunes by number of times it's been played.
Also made me search down all the Clown & Sunset podcasts which are great.
Thanks again Nicholas!

| #366 / Tue, 04 Dec 12 15:11 I've been listening to this set for years, and it's never lost it's beauty.
I still to this day recommend it to everyone, it's a great piece both accessible and mysterious.
