What a shame. Ever since I got intruduced to the Aeroplane RA podcast, they have become one of my favourtie artists. Looking forward to the up coming EP.

Lets hope the Aeroplane brand keeps delivering like it has over the past few years.

Majorly gutted tho.

this is still unbelievable. shock of the year (or the decade) or whatever. something must have happened...

Doesn't come as an immense shock... they have have obviously got some big guns behind them pushing them down some well-worn 'mainstream' channels.

This is not a criticism as such, but I could understand how in a duo pursuing such a route could cause tension and difference of opinion.

Like Leftfield before them, quit while you're ahead. Good for them, and good luck, I say. There are many other artists that keep going long past their sell by date when they should have changed direction ages ago. Props to 'em for seeing it and taking action.

And then there's the cynic's analysis. It's a great way to boost your forthcoming album sales...

work it out fellas!

Dumb move imo, to quote my friend "their album about to drop and they getting HUGE, must be that Breakbot remix. warranted in that case, if that's what was to come
10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag" haha

Anyway, just saw them in LA a few weeks back and they killed it. Such a shame.

Good luck to Vito with the project! I'm a huge Aeroplane and would love to see him continue with that great sound. All the best!

I was sad when I read that they split. I love their remix work - hopefully we get to see their progression in music from another angle.

Here's the wacky new video for Vito Deluca's "Superstar" single, lifted from the forthcoming We Can't Fly album.

Aeroplane - We Can't Fly cover
RA Review
Listening to We Can't Fly has the same unsettling effect you got the moment you heard the first album from other DJs-turned-producers such as Black Strobe or Tiga. Just like Burn Your Own Church overtly displayed Arnaud Rebonitini's attachment to dark metal and Sexor showcased Tiga's love affa..

I think 2 out of 5 is very unjustified!

On paper this album had loads of potential. Found it to be very dissapointing instead.

The Aeroplane RA podcast has nothing to do with what's on this album. The same goes for their remixes. This album is, by far, my biggest musical disappointment of the year.

most of this is disapointing for sure

their podcast is legendary to me though

sad they cant live up to that

i'd love to disagree but unfortunately i think the reviewer has the 2/5 mark bang on. 3 stand out tracks with 9 fillers.

lol I must admit the Album is a huge disappointment! But saw Aeroplane spinning at bestival couple weeks ago and he was brilliant.

Stick to the remixes and DJ'n!

makes you wonder how much better this album would have been if it didn't arrive in the context of a break-up. what I'm getting at is this: it's one thing to apply a cool sound to other people's work in the form of remixes, it's quite another to craft your own songs - maybe Aeroplane only excelled at the former . . .

just listened. Yep its terrible. Even Caramellas sounds bad on this

Having listened to it in it's entirety for the first time, this review, and moreso the comments, are fairly melodramatic.

Aeroplane set incredibly high standards and it's fair to say that it doesn't quite live up to those, with one or two songs sounding rather out of place, but nevertheless it is a pretty good album.

And whether or not it is "actual dance music" shouldn't really play a part in whether it is good or not.

Haven't heard the whole album. Just a few tracks from it. Is it possible that without the functionality of the dancefloor needs the direction is a bit all over the place and that is why some of us are a bit confused?

Vito De Luca, not Luca de Vito.
Stephen Fasano, not Stephen Vito.

Isn't that kind of stuff in bold on the press release?

MMMMM ,ive just had a listen and to be honest ,i think its a really clever put together record ,theres a lot of reference points i can hear for sure ,i think that the guy or guys in aeroplane , that do this stuff ,are coming from more a musical angle athan most generic dance music producers ,even though i love dance music , sometimes its genres and boudaries can be very restricting ,and sometimes musicians , songwiters like these guys want to explore further than these boundaries permit ,we seem to live in a world ,where words and personal feelings about everything around us are meaningless ,and are restrictited to writing bangers for the dance floor , dont get me wrong i do appreciate this kinda thing ,but i must say i think we need to let people grow musically ,in essence your probably correct ,this isnt just a dj record or maybe might be throwing of thse shackles that dance music restrains ,i dj myself and theres nothing more exiting than having a crowd buzzing and the highs and lows of the nights music ,but i must say sometimes people want to write and record music ,which im sad to say a lot of dj's dont understand ,and are completely thrown off ,if it isnt restricted to a four to the floor repetetive arrangement ,maybe the remixes will be your thing ,i hope i havent come over negative mbut sometimes i think dj's and the djs.writers here need to try and see further than the generic .
Peace and Love !

Bozzwell speaks the truth. This is also why minimal techno = death of all melody and talent in dance music.
