| #0 / Sun, 31 Oct 04 22:00 Summadayze 2005 is set to celebrate the coming of the New Year and hopefully what will prove to be a red hot summer day. This time Future Entertainment are not only providing the usual super fun happy slide to help you cool off, but also a giant sprinkler for some sophisticated exhibitionist action. If you don’t think you’ll be in the mood for getting wet then alcoholic slurpies will be served behind the bar. Alcoholic slurpies can only be described as the second smartest coming together of two concepts since alcohol and night swimming joined forces many moons ago. However, additions to the fun never come without subtractions. In a shock move that not even Nostradamus himself could’ve predicted, Junior Jack and Kid Crème have cancelled their Australian tour. Fortunately Future has been quick to replace them with Miguel Migs and Lisa Shaw which for most people probably won’t make much difference. Also added to the list of internationals is a DJ set by Cassius. As well as all the big name internationals already announced there will be a solid lineup of locals including John Course, Sean Quinn, Phil K, Jason Midro, Luke Chable, Grant Smillie, Mark James and Jono Fenandez. A stunning example of the Summadayze “something for everyone” approach which for one day a year actually seems to work. Early bird tickets have already sold out so that probably means it will be jam packed as usual. What it definitely means is that tickets are now $80+bf and can be bought through Ticketmaster and all the usual stores.

| #7 / Sun, 02 Jan 05 10:02 I had such a fantastic time at Summadayze !!! Never mind the crowds and assortment of people, nor the crazy queues to the toilets or to go anywhere.... The sound, lights and setup was perfect and the vibe was stunning. Highlights for me was Andrew Padula's set in the morning, Kaz James + Colorsound, Darren Emerson + Tim Deluxe... and last but not least, the maestro of that west coast house sound: Miguel Migs and the lovely Lisa Shaw (I was in heaven when she sang "Always" to end off their set) Oh and did i mention that Mark James actually played a pretty good set that I enjoyed too... !? Too much to see, too much to do..... whew ! Photos are up!!

| #8 / Sun, 02 Jan 05 20:35 yeh summadayze was unbelievable!!! The toilets were a bit crammed though, it felt like a sauna in there! There were even girls in the guys toilets peeing because they couldn't wait for the cue to the girls ones! My hightlights for the day were Adam Freeland's thumpin breaks, house, techno, electro and rock set (how much did smells like teen spirit go off!!!), Phil K and his twisted techy n bleepy breaks, Meat Katie and Lee Coombs, Darren Emerson and Tim Deluxe and even though I'm not into trance, Armin Van Burren (who played Nirvana at the end of his set too). Great day, except for the incident with the speakers at the breaks tent when they fell off the roof and split some poor girls' head open

| #11 / Tue, 04 Jan 05 00:49 First time at Muzzadayze.... Wasn't too bad at all. Spent most of the time camped out front of the main stage with periodic bursts to the House tent out back. Thought the toilet queues were resonable considering the amount of people. Cassisus was probably my pick for the day...although the sound system out back was shocking. Went to check out Miguel Migs and Lisa Shaw late in the day and left after 10 minutes, not becuase of the music....just the lack of oomph in the system.... wasn't going to do them any justice. Shame!!! Jason Midro had a good set as well. Bad points Hearing Nirvana 4 times Hearing Mylo - Drop the pressure about 3 times Hearing Born Slippy 2 or 3 times FUCKING ENUFF ALREADY!!!! Overall 7/10

I wear mauve hot pants apparently!!!! You call that taste??? I hadn't seen Jason before and from what I remember he set the scene nicely for the following DJ. Catering for everyone's tastes and building things nicely. Overall, I thought I it was a good set. Where does he play usually?

Muzzadayze... LOL I like it.... Atleast it gives Chapel St and fully sick VL's a rest. As for Nirvana, Born Slippy (and Mylo, though they wouldnt know the name) it gives all the other noobs something to get wet about and feel like they are getting their monies worth, cos they can say they knew a couple of songs.

That is quite a shame, but a Summadayze standard I thought. Something always has to fall, the year before I believe a few people got wiped out by a large polystyrene ornament...(an octopus?) The was no blood... just dented prides and what now may be the Summadayze hoodoo. Any bets on what will drop next year? My money is on main stage decks table... man that would be a site!!

| #25 / Wed, 12 Jan 05 21:14 Ahh, the place where that 'serious' dj, Anthony Pappa played Cowpander. LMAO! Yeah, agree, they should rip it down but not if a public space is going to be replaced by a private space. Recent development in St Kilda is already too far skewed toward the faux cool set who mistake St Kilda apartment living for inner-city living (when, in reality, St Kilda is a long, long way from town).

it is a long way when you get the tram down St kilda rd. takes forever for little Poley to get the POW! Rabbitweed i think St Kilda might benefit from a new cafe/restaurant/pub/bar on the site of the Palace, no?

better than having a Starbucks or apartment complex. What would you prefer a place to enjoy yourself. Eat, drink, be merry or 14 levels of view blocking concrete?

Can I be so radical as to suggest a public space? At the risk of sounding absolutely grounded back in the days when we used to take seriously the notion of a "civil society" may I even suggest that that public space be parkland... It would certainly be a huge improvement on the present site and obviate further privatisation of what is, after all, ours.

| #34 / Thu, 13 Jan 05 19:34 agreed parkland would be even better ...however considering you've got nearly a beautiful grassy foreshore a stone's throw away. Another park practically across the road a lack of car parking during summer then I find it unlikely the council will forgo the option of developing it for commercial use.
