 | RA Review Confidential to DJs: you probably don't want to play "Candyflip" while candyflipping, at least not if you haven't already mastered mixing its intro. Even sober DJs should be aware that this isn't a record you want to play out the same day you buy it. Bearing one of the trickier intros to come around..

| #4 / Fri, 10 Sep 10 13:53 Yes, one of the best artwork of O-Ton so far... (maybe the one for the Len Faki mix still keep the 1st place).

| #7 / Fri, 10 Sep 10 15:59 I don't really know what to say. Intelligently produced it may be, but Candyflip sounds like prog trance to me. I'm sort of in shock at how awful it is

| #8 / Fri, 10 Sep 10 16:09 it doesnt just sound like trance, it is TRANCE.
this is a poor Ostgut release. i redirect all those looking for some ostgutness to the PAS remix of terrence fixmer

| #11 / Fri, 10 Sep 10 18:14 haha so anything with arpeggiated chords is trance?! just go away and listen to your amazing new tech-house releases where there might be a chord stab on the off-beat, very original!

| #12 / Fri, 10 Sep 10 19:16 Had a listen there. I'm a house dj and would not play this. But I can see what they are doing, its pure winter sunday afternoon panorama bar. If you weren't ever there then you may no understand what this record is for and how it would work. Also reminds me very much of Toni Lionni - Celebration.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djyPMauJob0

| #14 / Sat, 11 Sep 10 09:16 I think gb321 has a point definitely, especially for the for Candyflip and The Hole, but I think the third track with JImmy Edgar can be enjoyed by anyone who likes sound, and something a little slower. The bass line is very smooth, and the synth lines are great! So those out there that have not been to Panorama Bar, check it out anyway!

I will not go as far to say it is the "poorest release" from Ostgut Ton.

Juno player's low bit-rate 2 minutes of a 9 minute track with lots of changes forms a weak basis for opinion.. or better still, go to a record shop, while they still exist ;-)

| #19 / Mon, 13 Sep 10 04:50 Great tracks, doesn't sound like trance at all. Maybe trance in the proper sense, but not trance in the loose, epic Tiesto sense. You guys are on crack.
I like it. Much better than the flat, boring Nick Hoppner release...that was a total snooze-fest.
I'll pick it up, likely.

| #20 / Mon, 13 Sep 10 08:38 candy flip is a great great track - a trance grind, love it!

| #21 / Tue, 14 Sep 10 12:51 not too sure what to make of candyflip yet... i can see what baker and nd are trying to do here and it's certainly interesting to listen to, although definitely on the cheesy side. saying that, this song could certainly work very late in the day on a berghain sunday - obviously not played by marcel or ben, but i can see nd, fiedel or boris pulling it off.
refugee hipster is a really good track in my eyes, and i'd play the hole out in a slightly ravier set. both tracks have great funk to them.
