My all time favourite Artist/Producer/DJ.
His attention to detail in tracks is amazing, and I love how you never know what you're going to get. I'm lucky enough to be getting to play on the same bill as Jochem when he's playing Belfast on the 9th October, and it'll be a huge privelage to even have my name on the same flyer :)

he was so brilliant at Berghain a couple weeks ago, raging hard and so fierce, for three hours straight. hard to believe someone could be doing it this long and still be so far out in front. or then again, maybe not. man knows what to do.

honestly, i opened my email this morning and saw Speedy J in the header for the RA newsletter, and a chorus of angels came in on beams of light from my computer. :) Thanks for such a great interview with one of my all time favorite artists.

After a period of lethargy last year and earlier this year, RA interviews are back in full throttle! Nice features with Surgeon, Steve Bug, Matthew Dear and now Speedy J.

Thanx and congrats, Todd!

He ripped DEMF apart for his live set in 2008. Missed him in 2010, but still buying up his tracks almost blindly!

Legend! One of my all time favorite acts...

Great interview. Heard him a few years ago. Got there late. I'll never forget the sonic assault of walking into the room. Full on.

...sound not scene
I seen Jochem in a grimey, dirty, hauntingly dark warehouse basement in Detroit circa 2003 when he was still relooping, mashing and reverbing / delaying the fuck out of the loudboxer stuff live. Seriously, not only the most amazing set I've ever seen, one of the greatest parties of my life.

Then in 2004, seen him live at the Free Mason Temple downtown Detroit, 4 floors underneath the biggest Masonic Temple in the World. (Fountain Ballroom) Then again the next year 6 floors underneath the Free Mason temple (Crystal Ballroom aka "The Basement") as Collabs 3000 with Liebing.

Seriously, these sets were ripping through the fucking space time continuum - and their settings felt very ritualistic & eerie - a certain feeling in the air & sense of a presence. This temple is home to many 33degree initiates & awash with symbolism from the ancient world. Amazing to see music / sound reach such a pinnacle in a place so in tune with the mysteries of our past.

Bought Public Energy #1 way back and has been my favorite electronic artist since. Legend.

Really loved reading this interview. I like he's track De-Orbit, I think its so epic.

Recently I discovered a collaboration of him with George Issakidis, the track is called Sculpture, it was on the Peter van Hoesen podcast, really good.

The 9 hour set from Bunker early in the year is the best techno set I've heard in a long, long time. So inspirational

Good interview but I would rather read more about his vision about Techno's future.

I wonder why Three'O'Three isn't mentioned? It's another Speedy J classic that is as big as Pull Over or Something For Your Mind.
