I am sympathetic to the problems BLKMarket has been having in recent date but they a have MAJORLY FAILED to accomadate those who bought tix in advance as we were told and now cannot go because of the time change... BLKMarket needs to STEP UP and either give refunds or even honor the tix for another event or something...

Fahad needs to make a post describing exactly what you need to do in order to get a refund. I would really like to know.

WWWOOOOWWW good party, fucking FAIL with the staff.
What is up with the RETARDED fucking staff at parties in the US???!!!! Doormen are idiots but the prize tonite has got to go those bitches in the coat room, unbelievable. BLKMARKET needs to check the people they hire for these events. I'm visiting ny and have been to 4 parties this week, all top dj's, angered by the door staff everywhere. From district 36 to the ballroom tonight, It's insane. They need to accommodate the type of people who come to these parties. I thought this was the land of service!!!!

I dont need to explain anything to you, did you buy a ticket? if you did can i have you ticket number ?

and to everyone else for the last time, If you emailed me for refunds, I have asked showclix to add you to the refund list, they will be issuing it this week :) I cannot reply back to every other person because I just dont have blkmarket going on in my life :)

amazing how airvenus , t-rek, L3on all signed up yesterday on RA and posted back to back.... wonder if they signed in with the same ip address on RA.

On another note.. Richie Hawtin destroyed NYC last night.. he played for over 3 hours and every second of it was amazing :) Thanks to all who made it and apologies to all who couldnt make it because of the time change, in the end our decision was perfect, had about close to 1000 people jumping in that room :)

Fahad,
I must say that the party was amazing. My wish came true and Richie played till the end.. Was that planned? Or was he feeling the vibe and just decided to keep going?? Everytime I see him spin he gets better. Thanks again!

~Ant C~
It was not planned, he was really feeling the crowd and kept on going :)

Can't believe I missed this, FML. Glad the party was good though, always a plus to impress Richie.

This was very memorable. Richie Hawtin ended playing from 1 till closing at 430.

He really was feeling the party and definitely in the end Highline Ballroom was the perfect.

Thanks to everyone that came out. That room was packed full until the very end.

I support you guys 100%, we happen to get to the party on halloween after the party was already shut down. We were very disappointed and very concerned when we heard some of you guys got arrested. I think its important that all of you who work behind the scenes to bring us great music and great spaces for us to unwind know that we support you and would like for you guys to continue doing what you do. We need to keep the scene alive.

Word, I support Black Market 100%. Few years doin parties and they've only had a couple bad nights. Can't judge them based on a couple fuck ups compared to 5 years worth of fresh parties.

Good party and needed after the experience at D36 Saturday. I liked the venue except for the clusterfuck coat check and yelling security guard near coat check. Sound was good and the lights too.

Gaiser was excellent and Richie was good what I saw since I had to leave early for work today. Droog was ok except for one of the worst train wrecks I've heard in a long time. Great way to spend my Sunday night, just wish I didn't have to work today and see all of Richie's set.

You don't really seem to care about your reputation. I have no relation to these other people. So what if I only singed up on RA yesterday? I singed up specifically to post in this thread and ask for a refund. I'm sure that is exactly the reason why these other people have singed up. I have my email from showclix proving I purchased a ticket on November 1st, long before the date and venue change was ever posted! I've pmed you all of the info, can you please reply to my pm confirming that I am on the showclix refund list.

Honestly ... and I'm being completely honest ... I've been to a lot of shows in my time. I was lucky enough to have been around during the days of Arc ... so, I know a good party...

Last night sucked.

I've been trying to restrain myself from saying this, but you're all hyping it way up. Hawtin definitely did not play a set worthy of $45. I've heard Hawtin multiple times and last night was one of the worst Hawtin sets I've ever heard. I mean, c'mon dude, I love you Richie but be a little more creative with your mixing. Drop bass ... effects ... drop bass back in a way Hawtin only does ...

Same shit over and over.

I will always hold a place in my heart for the Minus crew, but it was just not a good set. Now, that could've been offset by the shitty soundsystem or the fact that we were packed in there like sardines.

So much for what I thought would have been an underground party.

I really will never attend another BlkMarket party again. I will also never set foot in District 36.

No longer is BlkMarket Membership underground ... they are merely just club promoters looking to take as much money from you as possible.

Yes, BlkMarket does promote underground artists and excellent music ... but honestly, they suck the soul & life out of the parties with their methods. They simply just want to take your money.

I've lost complete hope in an 'intelligent dance music' scene ... haha, that's such an ironic term considering how mindless most of the people on these forums are.

Anyone who has seen Hawtin at his best would know that last night sucked. He didn't take the crowd anywhere.

Fahad, you can't even deny that. You yourself are a DJ ... if you really understand the craft you would wholeheartedly agree. You hype the show from last night, but you know it wasn't a good set. If you think it was ... well, then, you really are missing out.

Whatever happened to the crafting of a DJ set? The ebb and flow between mixes. Going back and forth between various contrasts and moods ...

Banger, banger, banger ...

Drink the KoolAid, kids. Have fun with that ...

thank you for deciding on not attending blkmarket events in the future, I am really happy about your decision.

Goes to show how much Fahad and Blkmarket care more about the money and not the music or experience.
Just to clarify, I do care about my money when I feel that I am lied to about a party.

I bought this ticket on the pretenses that it was to be from 4am-12pm at a private venue. I feel that Fahad and Blkmarket purposely lied about this being a private party in order to sell more tickets and delayed updating showclix with the proper information to see how many tickets they could sell.

http://ny.eater.com/archives/2010/11/district_36_opening_fails_to_wow_hardcore_househeads.php

District 36 = Fail.

At least I'm not the only one who feels this way...

Point proven.

District 36 will go the same route as so many other failure clubs in the past. Overpacked with meatheads and scumbags until it one day inevitably gets shut down by the city of New York ...

Yeah, we're all gonna miss a random chin scratching dude who has a tighter wallet than than a Jewish grandmother. Some of the best parties I've been to over the last year are Blkmarket parties. Yeah some crap got messed up due to shit outside their control the last month, but deal with it. The less whiney dudes the better.

First, you might want to try developing some good taste. If the best parties for you this year were BlkMarket parties then you obviously have not lived. Six years ago there were real parties in New York ... now they are very few and far between.

Bunker throws the best parties. Hands down. I am not some "whiney" dude ... I am an artist who knows good music and a good vibe. BlkMarket does not offer this. I gave them one last chance, and it has only gotten worse.

I know I'd rather not be surrounded by a bunch of thugs and meatheads who consistently just push and shove their way through a crowd.

I feel like these BlkMarket parties are filled with fucks that just want to get fucked up on drugs ...

... the likelihood of stepping on someone's foot and almost getting stabbed at a BlkMarket party are exponentially higher than a Bunker party.

Tight wallet? Seriously? The state of our economy and you're going to say that? Everyone is having money issues, so yes, I can gripe and "whine". Maybe someone will improve the system because of it. I am entitled to my opinion.

BlkMarket should be able to handle someone "whining".

I make barely enough money to live and support one other person. I have been taking cold showers for 4 months because I cannot afford hot water and I'm fine with it. Somedays I have one meal. So, yes, $80 is a lot for me to spend on a party. I don't whine....

I have a passion for techno and I have been involved in the scene for years. Seeing Richie Hawtin has always been a highlight, but the scene is dramatically changing.

Minimal techno is the new trance...

L3on we had about 1100 people in and out.. so I guess to the majority time change did not matter and we refunded 30 people who asked for refund and you are on the list also...

Alex you are the same guy who whined about refund on here and after that sent me a pvt msg apologizing about it and asked me not to refund... what I should have really done was refunded you that night, should have taken you off the list and you would have paid more money at the door... I feel sorry for myself for not doing that.

here is your pvt msg..

I'm sorry to be a pain in the ass, dude. I understand how difficult it can be to throw a party (over the summer I threw a party with Fred P that was an absolute flop because it rained and it was supposed to be a rooftop party).

I absolutely understand all the changes, I was just getting worried because I didn't know where to go to get a refund as I barely make enough money to live day to day ...

however, i was able to take tomorrow off from work so i no longer need to be on the refund list.

i'm sorry again that i no longer need a refund, dude. soooo .. please take me off the refund list :)

cant wait for tonight :)

Why would you want to go to a party thrown by someone with this attitude? I can't believe someone smart enough to organize a show for 1000 people can also be so immature. If it's not a lack of maturity then maybe a lack of morals? Do you even care about promoting the scene? It really just seems like you want to make money as a booking agent...

yeah sure i do this to make money, you have no idea what it really takes to throw parties like ours in new york city, you guys have no idea how much money we have lost by throwing parties and keeping the scene alive, flying 4 or 5 dj's every single party is not a joke and none of these artist are cheap, on top of it have you ever noticed the production at our parties or you just heard about us recently? do you know how many people work with us to make a single blkmarket party? there is sound crew, lighting crew, bar staff, helpers, security, door staff and none of this is cheap plus we have to rent each & every single thing for a empty warehouse which doesn't even have bathrooms.

If i made shit loads of $$ from blkmarket I would have quit my daytime job years ago. We need that attitude because we put everything we have at each and every party we throw but if you dont understand it and for some reason dont like what we do that is fine just find another party in new york city and stay away from us.

You aren't keeping the scene alive. You are commercializing the underground party eroding the very scene you think you're keeping alive. And disappointingly you have done it so well that now the scene is no longer underground and you have to book shows at venues so that you don't get arrested. People like you are frowned upon by true artists. The only thing you understand is money, and that is why I want mine back, because you are wrong.

You are a complete fucking moron. Put your money where your mouth is and start throwing your own parties then. But most importantly, stop babbling like a little girl. Nobody fucking cares what you think. They change one party from the morning to the night and now they're commercializing the scene. hahahahah

Wow. I been partying in New York since 94 and I can say Black Market has the best parties along with Resolute. How can you say they don't keep the vibe underground? And after a while ppl catch on and it gets harder to keep it underground. They have thrown fresh parties for over four years and because of some recent drama that was out of their hands a lot of ppl are talking shit. That last party was fukn fresh ass hell and I can't wait to go to another Black Market party! Keep the party goin. Real recognizes real. Just goes to show. . . . . . .

Fukn whining idiots. Nobody can keep there parties illegal. Nypd catches on and there it goes. I've seen it happen a few times in 15 years. It's a cycle. Of course they have to book clubs and legal venues, where would you like them to throw the party? The crowd is still underground. Who ever is complaining should not go to Black Market parties anymore, your gonna kill the vibe.

They changed the party from a private venue to a public venue and then waited to tell people about it in order to sell as many tickets as possible. How are you all so naive? I'm happy to argue this topic as long as people keep replying.

Definition of commercializing: Exploit or spoil for the purpose of gaining profit.

Brooks babble, little girls whine, and men complain. Lot's of people complained when the times were changed, that's why this thread is so big.

Fahad, it is called "being nice" (even after being extremely frustrated). Don't they teach this over in Pakistan? Or did you not reach the proper grade level to learn this technique of "being nice"? Obviously not, because your maturity level matches that of an 11 year old (and even that's being generous).

Your staff could learn a bit from this technique, as well ..

You're the one who looks like a fool ... this is your ship, not mine.

I think I was nice enough to you because I went out of my way to put your name back on the showclix printed list when you already emailed them for a refund, you messaged me around 9pm on sunday to put your name back, I didn't have to do this while I was doing sound check for Hawtin. I know its my ship and we know what we need to do to keep it going, I really dont think by putting you in your place will hurt anything.

Arguing and defending one's perspective for the sake of an artform's preservation is not the same thing as bitching. I value this form of music from the very depths of my heart. I will defend it when I deem necessary. So, you cattle can go along and follow the herd. I'm glad BlkMarket exists. Why? Because the bullshit it imposes will inspire a whole new set of new ideas. Out with the old, in with the new.

From frustration to innovation...

.. The ebb and flow of art ..

Fahad, when I emailed you it was 4pm.

And thank you for offering the refund. Shame on myself for emailing you the second time around. I probably still could have gotten a refund and gone to the show for free without you ever even knowing.

Failure is imminent. You're supported by the very same following of people that has tainted and destroyed so many previous electronic dance music genres. It's only natural. But, I guess it doesn't matter when money is around. Even if you must keep your day job :)
