same jubilee shut til olympics so good luck...went their once absolute mission of a club to get to once you park and in the winter time its beyond cold by the river. The club itself I cannot stand.

had a couple of good nights there - but it is missions and unless the jubilee is working will take one hell of a line-up to get me there...

cant remember having a great night there and went quite a few times. atmosphere just seems cold and sterile. nothing close to the hot pressure cooker that fabric can get like after 5am. and room 2 just seemed like such an after thought. such a shame.

I can imagine the line up without the fabric crew.I live pretty close but there are so many good underground partys in east london that i'm not too excited about another superclub with no atmosphere.

Room 2 was the best thing about the place imo.

I imagine that, when the RA crew see the comeback lineup, they'll pull this article, along with any reference to the club in their database, or content detailing its history with fabric.

MInd you, I haven't seen the line up yet. I'm merely speculating as to what sort of "night venue" this'll end up as.

Er... it's a photography exhibition. Just a FYI.

so we can expect david guetta and amrin van buuren instead of Sven Vath and Loco Dice.

Great.

nice news!!

must be the music
Had a great time in room 2. Not so much room 1

I actually went to a couple of really good parties at Matter. Easter weekend 2010 was amazingly good, for example. It will be a big shame if this essentially becomes a high-street club.

The cocoon parties that were there were allways really good especially the 1's with reboot and loco dice. Too often the club was half empty though and therefore no atmosphere! i was there for a laurent garnier night and it felt like there was 50 people in there

For clubs that always seem to be packed, they sure do have a lot of money management problems. Sounds like they need to quit embezzling their own money and use it to pay their rents.

Oh really? Would be great to check it out when i'm there next year.

Good luck to whoever plans to re open Matter. I can't see it being any good. Never was. Move matter to Ibiza and it will work. As it is now its location is it's problem.

Awesome news. Best club i have ever DJd in

Amazing place, must be hard to make money out of it though.

At a time when night clubs in London are shutting all the time this is great news!

Tagged on to o2, isnt going to attract enough people as a centrally located nightclub. Fabric is enough i think?

I don't understand what all the negativity is about? Another club in Londons diminishing club scene is never a bad thing. I mean admittedly like with The End (in my opinion the greatest London club of all time) the re opening as The Den was a joke, but only because people think of it as The End still...... it's not and never will be, that vibe will never be recaptured, which is sad but true. But with Matter, it never had that intimacy and loyal fan base, it was too big, versatile and purpose built as more of a stage for big acts, with big production than a club, a superclub!! (which isnt a bad thing, as it was the only place in London like it and was awesome) What confuses me is I could never understand all the fuss people made about the Jubilee line problems being an issue for getting to the club?? How can that be, a cab from Liverpool Street or Stratford is like 15 quid max? Between a few of you is peanuts, dedicated clubbers will go up and down the country or round the world even to see Djs and music they love but they can't find an alternative method of transport to get Matter?!! Lol! I think that's rubbish, and not the real reason it closed. Like someone else said, more like their money management or their reinvesting of funding back into the club or something? With Matter, under new ownership, it may mean some commercial nights, but it's such an industrial and raw feeling and looking club, I don't think something like Hed Kandi, or some other weak commercial night would ever fit there, wrong type of establishment...... couldn't see it working with bare concrete and steel work!! Haha. Due to it's size and production capabilities it would need to have a certain level of act just to be able to utilize it, so I think you'd still get your big names like Dubfire, Cocoon, Minus, Digweed, Circo Loco, VVWI, Carl Cox, James Zabiela and so on! Or am I just wishful thinking? Im hope not, but we ll have to wait and see. But I think everyone should be more positive. It's still better than it closing completely either way anyway and losing another club!

R.I.P - The End, The Cross, The Key, Canvas and Turnmills.

i live in hackney wick just the otherside of the blackwall tunnel, i should be as easy as you say, but the blackwall tunnel shuts at 1am every saturday so the only other way to get there is through the rotherhithe tunnel and cost about £40 in a cab... thats the thing with matter, you have be mega keen and rock up early.. there is no popping in after a few drinks in town and that does affect numbers...must be a killer if you live west as well!

It would be nice to see Cocoon back there, not sure I would go for anything else though.

I'm glat that Matter will be re-opening. Howveer it worries me that the music philosophy will change- you know, like that bullshit radio one play. i've seen the likes of Faithless and Sveth van , and can honestly say that was when the club was at it's best. Trouble is it was very expensive! i'm gonna email them and ask them about this. glad they didn't try and re-launch during the winter as they said they would! thats insane!

I looked at the guys promoting it- the proud club down in Camden market. it is to say interesting. they play indie, rock and house, so i have my doubts about this. Basically proud is a live music venue (google it up cos i can't remember the url!)

matter was set up as a live music venue so maybe that is what it will become? Check out a few bands playing then listen to some generic music afterwards. Now it is not being run by the boys at fabric, I very very much doubt any of the big nights will play there again. I'm almost certain.
