I miss old Frivolous. I suppose his sound has matured but classics like "The House Guest's Guitar" never get old. Never mind the crazy anti stream rip backspin noise.

Killer MP3 collection dude.

"All The Comforts" is great as well. Love the use of that Cevin Fisher vocal.

incredible how frivolous creates his soundscapes by sounding so fresh and modern meanwhile leaving out most of the stereotypes we have to endure from many of the standalone ableton production these days!
without a doubt an outstanding artist with his outstanding music. this is like a gift to the electronic music showing what (house)music should be about: a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing...beeing unique and timeless!
thanks for that masterpiece!

Full support,super album!

Brilliant album this, one of the best of the last year, let alone this one.

Expected a review on RA for it.....

Any reason why it's not featured?

Frivolous - Meteorology cover
RA Review
The backstory behind Vancouver producer Frivolous' third album Meteorology is ridiculous, but too ridiculous to be fiction. Daniel Gardner found Berlin unwelcoming and took an extended sabbatical to a remote island in the Pacific Ocean, where his long-term partner ended their relationship the da..

I agree with wonderer, strong 4/5... And i dont get this part of the review: "It's an album-length experience that goes far beyond the usual set of grinding tools, even if it sometimes goes too far in its mission to be different."

where exactly it goes "too far" andrew?:-)

I think in RA-style this album obviously can't have bigger that 3/5 =)

Took a quick listen to the tracks over on Amazon, and the review seems pretty much spot on. It's a dance record that has a lot of other elements in it.

I think the 3/5 is appropriate. Gotta put that horrible back-story to the making-of the album aside and just listen to the music for what it is with out any caveats.

Think it's a fantastic album. I'm very much in favour of quirkiness and inventiveness over merely good electronic music. There's so much (good) stuff about that ultimately sounds the same, and an album should be a personal statement about the person and the music for me. And that's exactly what this is.

Sure, the vocals or melodies or other aspects may grate with some people but you can't please all the people all of the time, and I'd rather have this on rotation over another slick, polished, but ultimately soulless 12-track dancefloor album.

4/5

Nearly two months ago I seen him live and that was amazing. Yet the album only shows fragments of the feeling he gives off in a live act. Pretty talented lad. I'll be buying a copy.

what to say.. for me frivolous is one of my top since ever..
i like most "meteorology", that kinda vibraphone sound is exquisite, the swing rolls too..
but at same time i hear groove, i hear a lack of harmony

too far from my conscienceness, which literally blew my head off...

Seriously sweet tracks. And such good feel. I'm wondering if Frivolous could be performing at this festival I just stumbled across today (http://www.governorsballmusicfestival.com/). Pretty sure its rumored to have some serious electronic acts performing live.
