would rather say it's a hybrid dj controller with integrated jog-wheels and hi-end mixer. pioneer doesn't really have an all-in-one solution and surely don't wanna leave the field completely for NI's Control S4...

Leaked pic of the Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus

If this is true then why all the hoopla? It looks like a mix between the 700s&800s but is a 900?

and kind of looks....dated. May'be it's to accompany the CDJ-900s.

Just my two bits that I was hoping they would be revealing a control deck vice CDJ or DJM.

the fact u can plug your laptop straight into the mixer for traktor use is a fantastic addition. this will avoid alot of melt

I swear Pioneer release a new mixer every week! They always look the same and seem to generally do the same thing.

You don't see A&H doing this.

hmmm yes i'd much rather spend 1899 Euro on this than the E&S DJR 400.

Coz that digital effect is just so funky.

urgh kotz!

Nothing about a consequent sound improvement? Its a pitty Pioneers mixers sound is so bad, they still pretty fun to play with.

wow. so many pioneer haters. what did allen + heath brainwash everyone, or have any of you actually compared a pioneer to an allen + heath in a club? as a dj that plays vinyl in clubs the bottom line is that the pioneer sounds a million times louder for vinyl. plus you get the fx. i really don't understand why the allen + heath is just accepted as the best without any discussion. and don't even get me started about the death of rotary mixers. gimme a rane or a urei any day. you guys is crazy...

since when louder means better? you play grindcore?

and why are we even talking vinyl here if this mixer is clearly aimed at laptop enthusiasts?

agreed with the comments from djelyte & dragons mouth, much prefer the poineer on vinyl format.

i have compared allen and heath to pioneer in a club when working at The End as a technician ... there is no doubt that allen and heath mixers have a more musically pleasing sound quality , however the build quality is much less robust (we replaced a fader a week , specially when there where drum and bass nights , however the Pioneers rarely needed any maintenance) ...at the end of the day its horses for courses and i love pioneer's stuff its well designed technically as well as for creative use.

couldn't disagree more. think the sound is far superior out of the A&H in clubs when playing vinyl

i don't know why people are put off by fx on a mixer - if you don't like them, don't use them. a few well judged loops & fx at the right moment can be devastating. as can over use and ill judged use but giving the opposite effect. don't blame the workman if you can't use the tools properly.
i've heard more shite in a club by dj's overworking the eq's than i have by bad use of fx anyway.

there's a big reason why these appear on so many djs technical riders, as the sound guy at the end just mentioned, they are super-reliable. they might not be in some peoples opinion, the best 'audiophile' mixer but they are good enough for so many big clubs to have as their main mixer. the problem with the sound is often caused by dj's banging all the channels into the red which is just bad skills on any mixer - for some reason people do it more on the pioneers (maybe they like to see the LEDs?).

i think this will become the new standard installation. the usb link and traktor certification make it much more convenient for laptop jocks.

yes, korg did bring something similar out a few years ago but it is now discontinued as it was plagued with problems (check the korg forums)

@matthewburns, curious to know why you think it is such a 'flawed' mixer?
it seems pretty much what people want in 2011 to me - it's so much better than that awful djm2000 with all that touchscreen gimmickery.

a&h make some really great mixers - they've also made some pretty rubbish ones too. i think they've probably released as many mixers/controllers as pioneer over the last 4 years or so.

horses for courses innit.

Agreed with your first comment re: sound quality, allen & heath is superior, I would also say that the build quality of allen and heath is more robust to that of pioneer mixers....in my experience anyway.

It will be interesting to see what the difference in sound quality is like between this and the 800. In any case, this is a really well thought out revision - the improved input layout, input selector switches and built in sound card should make DVS set-up (no matter which flavour you prefer), a whole lot easier than before. As for comments regarding the USB port on the top panel ... how fucking un-coordinated would you have to be to break the thing? Seriously, what's the point of having Traktor Scratch Certification and the ability to setup using a single cable if you still have to rifle around the back panel? It would be a massive oversight to not have that feature.

The only negative here seems to be ... none. Even though the effects still sound a little gimmicky (going off the video here), they're still improved somewhat, and the inclusion of an option to switch the EQs to Isolators is a massive step forward. I wouldn't buy one of these for use at home, but would be well pleased to use one in the club ... even if I generally prefer and Allen & Heath!

I don't understand why they didn't put 2 usb ports on the thing, how is one dj playing traktor gonna switch over from the one before?

duh

yea but for 1600 you could get 27' imac .. go figure!

Doesn't touch the DB4 by Allen and Heath!!
