| #3 / Wed, 02 Mar 11 11:18 A missed opportunity here, I feel.
I love Nick Warren's music and DJ sets.
Given his amazing taste in downtempo and ambient as shown by GU024 Disc 1, various ambient promo mixes, and the fantastic isolatedmix, I was hoping for something more akin to Jimmy Van M's Balance mix with a wider range of genres and tempos.
Just reading the track list here, it seems like a fairly 'basic' dancefloor-oriented mix.
I'm willing to be surprised though, and I'll certainly be buying.

| #8 / Wed, 02 Mar 11 12:51 Fair play to Warren, he's a true professional - always stuck to the music he believes in and never jumped on a bandwagon, or tried to hard to be 'in the limelight'.
Always like seeing a new album or release from a guy like this. It personally keeps me inspired.

Good point. I think Nick's 'Back To Mine' is still an ambient classic, and JVM's Balance mix was epic, but every Balance edition has a style of it's own - I'm sure this will continue that trend.

Agreed. I still love the ambient / downtempo mixes he did for GU (Disc 1 of Paris and Reykjavik), but the dance floor mixes on those same albums are mediocre. Hopefully since Balance seems to result in inspired mixes, this release will be worth a listen.

Don't forget both mixes in the Lima comp was sensational dance floor shite. he just has been in the hall of fame of progressive since god knows when

It's only really Nick's more recent promo mixes that have kept me as a big fan. That's not to say I've only enjoyed his downtempo/ambient stuff: his Christmas Mix 2009 is on regular rotation here too.

| #25 / Thu, 03 Mar 11 11:35 Agree with sammcbean. Balance was originally for the prog DJs that weren't big enough for a GU mix. And it wasn't even just Timo; Joris Voorn, Will Saul and Agoria all created really innovative mixes.
This is a real disappointment.

| #26 / Thu, 03 Mar 11 13:21 Must say I too was a little surprised with Nick Warren doing the next Balance. Can't wait to hear it though, I like a lot of his mixes. 1st CD on the Paris GU is incredible (but I don't like the 2nd one either).

| #27 / Thu, 03 Mar 11 14:45 Very excited about this. I love Nicks taste in music, his GU mixes have always stayed on my playlist. I'm sure this is going to be very good as he has definately been playing some deeper tunes as of late. His recent podcast on Hybridized even had some Exit & Nonplus Autonomic style stuff. Stunning.

 | RA Review Over the course of his 20-plus year career, Nick Warren has helmed an impressive total of 12 commercial mix compilations—with no less than eight of those being globe-trotting sets for the renowned Global Underground label. His frequency on the GU roster is understandable; Warren is their best-sellin..

| #37 / Thu, 12 May 11 16:42 150 minutes = 22 Tracks. It's sooo boring and sounds quite bad, the mixed parts are saturated. Can't believe you bring this 3/5

sometimes I wonder if any of you (or the RA staff) ever actually go out and, if you do, whether you stand against the bar stroking your chin

| #44 / Thu, 12 May 11 18:55 I guess RA's ratings are low for 'been there, done that' music... like music that doesn't push the boundaries.
3/5 is decent, just in the middle, 4 is good and 5 is great, innovative future sound.
Anyway, it would be interesting to have official RA feedback or explanation.

| #50 / Thu, 12 May 11 20:30 what´s wrong with the progressive heaters? i´m pretty sure, in less than 5 years is going to be the flavour of the month (as had happened whith electro, minimal, and now deep house) and they gonna be so cool listening to that.
can´t you just simple love music?
