| #0 / Tue, 05 Apr 05 19:22 It has been a while since a visiting DJ volunteered for a six hour set, but house DJ Brett Johnson (USA) is up for the challenge at Seven Nightclub on Anzac eve, Sunday 24 April!
Brett was raised in Dallas Texas and credits his mother's music collection as his earliest musical influences. Soft Cell, Prince, Motown, Human League, Kraftwerk and Stevie Wonder all helped cultivate Brett's own sound described as "groovy with a techno edge." Consumed with producers like MAW, Todd Terry, Kerri Chandler, K.O.T. and the whole NY movement, Brett was also exposed to the new Chicago sound that was making waves in the early 90s by people such as Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Ralphi Rosario, the DiY Crew and Chez Damier. Brett started Aesoteric Records with friends in '98, with the purpose being to create an outlet to release their music, but it wasn't long before other artists were signed to the label.
Joining Brett on the night in the Phreakin main room will be Jeff Tyler and Tyson. Slamming the decks in the Freebase Sideroom will be Sunday favourites, Gavin Martin, Brad Daniels and Dr B and upstairs will be electro with Pip D'alioia, Scott Finemore and Dave Maslem.
Tickets are available online for $25 +b/f (100 earlybirds only) at www.earthcore.com.au. After this tickets are $30 +b/f (200 only). You can also get them at retail outlets. Doors open at 10pm.
