I would like to rescind my earlier comment... think only a 4.5...but still..top record. Well done Mr Ryce, you were right.

I think 5\5 is appropriate for this release. It's significantly better than that Zomby album. At the very least the machinedrum tracks are complete finished whole tracks whereas Zomby is either incapable of finishing tracks or his attention span is that of a small fly. Ask yourself how many of your mates that make music on their PC have a glut of 1 or two minutes tracks\loops sitting on their hard drives? I'm sure plenty do.

Have to say the opening track sounds nothing like I've ever heard. More like an Autechre track in the way it unfolds than juke or footwork

I've listened to this album more than any other album in the past few weeks and it's save to say this is my favourite album of this year's summer. Thank you RA for showing me this, Planet MU for releasing this and Machinedrum for creating it!

I think this is genuinely the first time I've seen both a score, and a review from the RA team which genuinely reflect the music in question. Was utterly floored by this album and continue to be - the best purchase I've made this year to date.

Very good album, but it's quite derivative of Burial's music really. The RA reviewers don't seem as sharp as they used to be, IMO.

How have I only just heard about this album!

Sure, the work may be a derivative of burial, but it takes burials somber shadowy sentiments and brings out the joy of being lost in a haze.

You could make the argument that it's another rehash of the burial sound, but couldn't you also make the argument that Cybotron was just a Kraftwerk Derivative?

What does that have to do with burial?

Have really tried to identify what's special about this record. After repeated listens i can say nothing at all. I can't see this being a record people will continually revisit for years to come.

Album of the year

Probably the best album I've heard this year! Powerfull and unique. I totaly agree with the 5/5.

Cool, nice throw back to the old UK rave/ Hardcore & Jungle circa 90-93- e.g. Production House, Suburban Base, Ibiza, Reinforced records etc..
He uses a lot of old tunes from those labels in his sets too I see..
Didn't Zomby & AGT Rave Cru beat him to this type of caper though?

some of the play counts in my itunes for this album is close to 2000,it's a classic for sure

Strange enough, I wasn't reading a lot RA nor taking it for a reference while Room(s) was released and I didn't read this review. I only knew Machinedrum through his earlier work and the Sepalcure EPs. When the Sepalcure LP dropped, I decided to hear Machinedrum's 2011's LP and it really hit me at first, I found it amazing. It quiclly grew on me and I knew for sure that it was 2011's album of the year. Then, I read about it on the internet and I didn't found really enthusiastic reviews and then I stumblon upon this review and the love it recieved on RA. This review is totally right, this album is straight amazing and perfect.
