Ready Set Loop is bad! My fave track on the lp.

RA Review
Starting out with chunky, retro-leaning 2-step workouts like "2020" and "Laika," SBTRKT established himself as someone who could mince old styles into complex pastiches that somehow fit into the futurist dialogue of bass music But when he was scooped up by prominent indie Young Turks, it seemed lik..

Frustratingly mediocre with the occasional flash of brilliance. Ready Set Loop and Pharoahs (in particular) are the only tracks that I really like throughout their duration. "Wildfire" just makes me want to listen to Little Dragon instead.

PS - The Objekt remix of Wildfire is huge though.

Pop? No no never. There is pop in Wildfire, but the wonders of production in Sanctuary or the opening track are just marvellous blends of garage, broken beat, and old style funk.

And anyway. Not being experimental and being pop does not mean 'bad'.

Cringeworthy vocals all over this one.

Perfect pop record. Sounds like gold now, will sound kind of outdated in a year or so, but will sound fantastic again in 10 years! Just like i want music to be.

AMAZING RELEASE 5/5 for me!

Actually pleasantly surprised by this album. Ready Set Loop and Trials of the Past are my faves. Sampha's voice works really well I think.

Nice surprise, refreshing, but far away from a top notch.

this album is one of the very few recently that I have been looking forward to and which lived up to the expectation.

was so excited when i saw him and sampha play at the gilles peterson worldwide thing, but with each new track, he's just gotten more and more boring. Nice. But boring. Gimme Machinedrum's 'Rooms(s)' any day of the week over this...

Just discovered this band a couple weeks ago when my friend was watching some French fashion show with their music on the background. They have some fresh ideas and I liked that their style is not too conventional.
