 | RA Review Though James Connolly's poppier material already stood out from the rest of the Night Slugs roster, Neon Dreams doesn't have music you're going to find on his label. The album is composed of short, digestible dilutions of Night Slugs hip-hop-informed house swagger, the kind of stuff you might find..

None of this album sounds 'commercial', I really don't get what you're all chatting about.
What is with this current underground industry obsession whereby every single album needs to be scrutinised down to the level of detail whereby you spend more time considering whether an artist has created a new sound/style/genre, rather than just listening to the music for what it is.
This album is great. It may not exactly be 'groundbreaking', but its certainly very, very nice to listen to.

| #9 / Tue, 04 Oct 11 16:36 and Larvi, that's a horrible thing to say to someone who's just spend the best part of 18 months writing an album off of almost purely hardware, and who 99/100 will not earn tons of £££ for doing it.
Lighten up.

Maybe not tonnes of £££, but he's signed to Island / Universal and does plenty of pop remixes these days, so he is definitely taking a piece of that bass music/chart crossover bounty. You can decide for yourselves if he's changing his sound deliberately, or whether its an authentic artistic shift.

| #11 / Sun, 09 Oct 11 17:59 definitely better than a 2.5...mr ryce obviously has an aesthetic handicap if he can criticize track 9/tonight. 3.5-4 at least.
