Rustie - Glass Swords cover
RA Review
Glass Swords seems set on out-gauching a league of contemporaries who are beginning to add completely unfashionable genre signifiers to their music. You don't get much more direct than "Hover Traps," whose slap bass (like it was taken right off of Seinfeld ) is quickly rendered irrelevant in the..

Garish, bright synths; overstuffed soundscapes; chipmunk/vocoded vocals; trancey melodies - These are things I usually cannot stand and when you combine them all it sounds like an aural nightmare waiting to happen.

And yet, I absolutely love this album.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Excellent review as well, on par with the one in the October 2011 issue of The Wire.

this surely deserves 5/5. if rusties gonna keep up his work and get more influences on next releases, this may be something as important like zombys 'where were you in 92'

A little too over the top for me and I don't really understand the current trend with trance sounds. Love some of the funk lines in this though.

Anyone know if this done on a in or out of the box? Seems overly harsh on the top end.

Absolutely adore this album, totally AOTY for me atm. Pure uncontrolled aural insanity done perfectly.

The issue I have with this album is the same that I had with HudMo's debut - Probably needs to cut down on the red cordial. Agreeable score though.

Looking forward to this one, it's been getting big wraps from the guys in the business.

Not feeling this album at all, and I love Rustie's early 12's, the Jagz The Smack Ep, Zig Zag 12 and Bad Science EP were amazing. City Star is the only decent track on the album, what's with the chipmunk vocals on most of the tracks?

Loved it... I'm actually really enjoying the renewed sense of fun and euphoria in a lot of electronic music this year... kind of nice after so many years of serious minimal techno, serious berghain techno, serious deep house etc. I know its a thin line between fun and cheesiness but Rustie seems to tight rope walk on it without a problem... good stuff!

Yep, this is one of the good aspects of this whole funky/post-everything movement. It's people just doing stuff, not caring about anything. In the last few years it seemed like electronic music lost all sense of genuine fun. Everything had to be super serious, sophisticated and thoughtful and fit into the accepted genre standards.

I really wanted too like this, but..... just like his mixes I feel it falls short for me. I'm a fan of Tokimonsta, Tweebs, Ngoc Lan...... and this album just feels boring to me. There are some good songs, (no doubt about that!) but an album it is not. Just tracks for the DJ.....understand?

Rustie's Groove.de Podcast with some of the tracks from this album sound coherent and smooth. This album is tiresome.

I guess this is a collection of great tracks, but as an album it just doesn't work.

0/5 this is the most overhyped piece of garbage. imho this is the point of Warp where it is starting to be largely irrelevant to sphere of quality electronic music. in future, everyone is going to look back and not understand how this puke could score over 1,5
