Want to hear some samples- seems like he is continuing to change and develop his sound in some subtle ways, which is good.

The Field - Looping State of Mind cover
RA Review
2007 was a landmark year for glassy-eyed crossover dance LPs. Kompakt itself issued two albums of their trademarked kaleidoscopic quasi-techno for the couch bound crew in Gui Boratto's Chromophobia and The Field's From Here We Go Sublime . Over on Dial, Pantha Du Prince established the cred he'd..

This is excellent. Much better than the second album for me.

Excellent. Cant wait to see him in November.

Great release. 'It's Up There' and 'Looping State Of Mind' are fantastic tracks.

This is probably the biggest step forward for the Field since a while, no we all his creative process is still evolving and it's great, love it!

I'm pretty disapointed with Fields new one, just feeling he is recycling his old works I don't hear some fresh and new idea in his sound!

Loving the album, everything The Field does is trademark of quality, eyes closed and hands down...I love everything he does, period.

I was worried about the length of the tracks, but it seems like this music is build for this length! Great CD.

The tracks in the beginning are just okay...but the album does get better afterwards...so i guess 4 is a good rating

I still think his looping is awesome! Even thought I would have lowered the score to 3.5

Anyway, You're the experts! And after a while it gets better and better!

That's what I thought! Yeah it must be... got so excited when I found out The Field is an early Winehouse fan :D

Why does everyone think this is his best yet? Why does every review of this album start off with 'too bad his second album sucked' comments? Did the reviewers actually listen to the second album? It was amazing! I really appreciated the variety of beats and the progressions between the tracks and the Field's flawless incorporation of live and sampled elements.

This one is growing on me much like the first album did, but I don't see why anyone is pretending this third album is anything especially different from his first. It sounds the same only a little more complicated and a little bit less fresh. I'd almost call it a disappointing regression if I didn't like the Field, his hypnotic looping drone house style, and his impeccable taste in samples so much.

I'm not saying I dislike the album, but I don't understand why everyone is pretending Looping State of Mind is somehow phenomenally better than Yesterday and Today.

I should add that, other than the 'disappointment' of the second album comments made herein and my disagreement with the quality of this release, I thought this review was awesome.

^ I am a big fan of The Field as well, his debut being one of my favourite albums. I guess after being so blown away by what was, at the time, a fairly unique sound (yes I realise other artists have done it in the past but not in the same way), the second album just didn't quite live up to the high expectations. It never really clicked with me outside of a few tracks. I'd say it's still a good album, and if it wasn't the follow-up to "From Here We Go Sublime" I'd probably love it, but my expectations made me enjoy it less.

The third album, on the other hand, kind of took me by surprise. Yes you're right in saying that he isn't doing anything different to the previous releases, but there's something about many of the tracks here that just seems to work really well.

I'd also agree that it is more similar in sound to his first album, but he's somehow managing to incoporate many different influences and styles within the frame-work of the same looping ambient house/techno that we heard on the debut.

I absolutely love both previous albums, so I'm really looking forward to hearing this.

And an Amy sampling?? Interesting.

Good music, I dance. No good music, I go home.

Sounds in its looser, live sounding basslines married to insanely loopy bliss just like the album Willner promised to make with his second effort. This is such an incredibly satisfying, awe-inspiring record that I'm tempted to declare it not just a total return to form but something beyond even that. Total love for this. love

put this CD on and let it take you to farawaty places. be not in a hurry to return. tremendous release by Field which have knocked three CDs out of the park with three swats of the bat at Kompakt. that's a heck of a run. hypnotic and bewitching, fall under their spell.
you'll arrive back all zoned out and more.
