i was there last year and it was a blast!
as for the clubs, there are 2 major venues for day events (both on the beach, so dress code is a swimming suit kool beach is like a trendy one, very loud, with a swimming pool, crowded & kind of a show-off in my personal view. canibal royal is walking distance away, but a real playa bar, with sunbeds, food (can get it @both places) and more of a chilled summer atmosphere. occasionally there is a third venue in between these two, again on the beach (art department played there last year for example)
at nights there are 3 major clubs circulating. blue parrot is a huge playa disco (last year used for NYE eve, richie, etc) with sand as a dancefloor (be careful what ur wearing on ur feet, otherwise might lose a shoe
santanera is a huge closed club, brahma's got 2 floors with a terrace. air-conditioning might be too much at times, so do have a sweatshirt with u just in case. anyway, the choice of clubs depends on ur music taste. i get the feeling that every night there's one more "commercial" and another more "underground" party so generally right people go to right places alux cave is a must see, located a bit out of town (easily reached by taxi) & is a wonder of nature, indeed something special!
all sorts of the "mood enhancing" stuff might be found around, but better ask someone you trust, cartels are strong down there, nothing dangerous, but I recommend descretion nonetheless...
the surroundings is absolutely beautiful! there are lots of excursions being organised from playa to wherever you'd like for around 50 bucks (all day trip) and there's plenty to choose from. i'm especially thrilled by being able to enter 2012 at the very place of the maya origin there's some magic to it definitely
when it comes to accommodation, there are many condos for rent, and prices vary depending on their distance from the beach. i suggest sharing it with a few friends, that way it comes both cheaper and more fun check them out on the internet and book in advance if possible since playa can be really crowded during the festival and locals raise prices because of it. the earlier you book the better.

Went there for the 2nd edition. Was pretty awesome.
Nothing more to say. Everything could be found without too much hassle. Avoiding certain parts like "Colonia Colosio" would be preferred.
Basically all needed is PLUR and you'll have a blast. As soon as troxler confirms I'm booking!!

BTW, if you are hesitant because of the "war against drugs" do not worry. That is an undisputed territory, nothing should happen there. Out of the whole mexican territory only 15% is gravely affected by this.

thanks for the info my friends. yea i was planning on getting a major discount with my gf bcuz she works for a tourist company and they were gonna hook it up with a hotel. but they backed out. so thinking about places to stay. any idea on how much condos would be for a week or so. or where to look online. much appreciated. and by the sounds of it i cant fucking wait to go. damn. im coming from santo domingo my flight is like 500 bucks so im looking to be as economical as possible. i need to by party favors and all that good stuff. i MUST bring in the new year with a fat ass JOINT !!! wooohoooo

oh and another thing. how much are tix per event. and are there any free parties. like underground shit. basically i want to go to any party whever all the commercial people are NOT going. ya feel me.. by the looks of the line up thou i dont really see too many commercial djs actually sooo i take that back. lol.

entiendo las quejas sobre la falta de musicos locales, sin embargo casi todos los festivales internacionales son asi. Crees que Exit tiene mas serbios que djs internacionales? Piensas que off sonar tiene en la mayor parte espanoles? No es sobre la musica mejicana, es sobre los lugares y culturas hermosos como los otros festivales y fiestas!
