That was AMAZING! One of the best parties I've been to in a long time. Wicked music and a wicked crowd! Thanks guys!

more feedback from this party please!

Crap! Arrived at 10.30, left at 12.

Crowd weren't the normal Circo types, far too many champagne/ grey goose posers. Some retarded girl drinking wine (yes... Wine- at Circo loco?!! The mind boggles) tripped up and threw her nasty vinegar all over me. Next, I go to get my phone out. Not there, I'd been pick pocketed.

Sound was awful. My iPod speakers are better!

Putting an underground promotion in a 'super club' just doesn't work for me and I'll think twice before buying tickets at a 'secret location'

Crowd was different, also more cracked out than usual but probably to be expected on NYD. Watching people get carted off in ambulances as I waited for a cab wasn't cool.

yes agree that the crowd was different, loads of rappers behaving like idiots, especially upstairs and a group near the smoking area door. musicwise AMAZING, everysingle dj on room 1 was on point, my favourite of the night, tanzmann, delivered quality tech house. tania vulcano had a track( big drop) OMG, she had a mirror fail not even a fail, i cant expain it. but we didnt care, we`re to happy. soundorom extended the party to 7ish which was cool. didnt get to c room 2. loved the co2, defo need 1 at fabric. oh yeah repeated tracks lol??!! there was a barmaid downstairs bar wearing a swimsuit.... what exactly happened outside??

for those who know the early years of circoloco, this one was far away from the DC10 ones in terms of sound quality and atmosphere...

They have killed the underground spirit of it for 2 years now...

AND NOW THEY EVEN MANAGED TO FORGET THEIR CLOWN... DID NOT SEE ANY FLAGS OR VIDEOS RELATED TO THE GIG

WHERE WAS THE FANCY DRESS STYLE?

When matter closed several of us promised to return even if it re-opened with Britney Spears headlining. In the short history of matter it made an indelible mark on our clubbing psyche. We would work all week waiting for the weekend @ matter where on so many occasions we were melted on the room 1 dance floor at around 6am, always wanting more. Randomly, we were at a mid week event @ matter when we all heard Michael Jackson had died. Many times we would enjoy the trek up to the third floor and dance on the sky bridge and then even settle down under the room 3 DC-10ish void soundsystem belted out the sounds of room 1 below. Matter was not without its problems though; travel out there for one was a bitch, the lines to get in on a dead cold winter night were torture, the cloak room was stupid and try to get up those packed stairs from room 1 to the toilets when you are completely melted. The other issue with matter was the bouncers sorry to say. You would take a disco nap or rest at matter and within seconds you were being told to go home.

Well we didn’t have to wait for Britney Spears, we had Proud2 and Circo Loco to thank for the opportunity to re-live what use to be. The problem is that Proud2 is probably the most ridiculous club name on the planet and we had heard mixed reports that it was just all gone Pete Tong.

So what do you do in these situations? Lower your expectations and plan for the worst. We wanted time to check out Proud2 and we wanted to hear System of Survival (like we did at DC-10 closing) and planned to be inside by 8pm. What happened was a big surprise, the whole process went well. At matter, the O2 staff would make you walk around the outside on O2 in the cold but now for Proud2 we were ushered inside the O2. We were nicely greeted at all points, security checks were polite and fair and then at the coat check they offered advice (to the first timers to Proud2) that we should take a picture of the coat stubs in case we lost the originals during the night. We were inside and on room 1 dance floor by 7:30 (ahead of schedule) and had a plastic bottle of Stella in hand. WTF just happened?

The inside Proud2 had changed somewhat from matter. There are no steps around the dance floor anymore, instead a lot of walls knocked out and you could see the dance floor from the room 1 bar (how original). They also put up a bloody railing on the stairs up to the toilets so you have one side going up and one down (another bright idea). The décor was slightly kitsch to say the least. A lot of plastic ferns on roman columns. The paint work was more nursery school with what looked like black shapes on orange base. It kind of felt like clubbing in one of the bigger clubs in Kazakhstan or Lagos. Room 2 changed a lot too. Graffiti on the old matter light tiles on the room 2 wall and it a weird terrace structure in room 2 that seemed to have a few stripper poles on them no less. The Martin Audio rig was still in room 2 but squeezed to make 2 stacks vs the old one of 4 from matter. The big surprise was that room 2 had tons of sofa to chill out on, a far cry from the matter days. Overall, while Proud2 décor was something out of a Russian gangsters playbook, it did seem like Proud2 had tried to put some common sense into some of the additions and changes.

With what seemed like an expanded dance floor in room 1, the sound system was as we had always remembered it … solid! Maybe the removal of the concrete tiered steps around the dance floor may have had an impact, the volume was not what we remembered at the old matter but the sound quality and bass were all present.

Music wise you could not complain, all the DJs smashed it. Room 2 was Visionquest-esque bass driven house that has been so big in 2011. Ryan Crosson being the best of the night for our ears. Room 1 while starting slower with System of Survival and Lee Curtiss had some pretty big tech house tunes as the night continued. Dyed, Tania, Matthias and Davide were all having a blast and it was pretty clear the rider was full and loaded on stage. It was a pretty slapped together decks setup in room 1 and for the most part the way it was all setup, the music, the crowd and most importantly the Proud2 décor it kind of fitted together in a (kind of) Circo Loco way. The CO2 canons in room 1 were a nice touch but the attempts at pyrotechnics were a miss and seemed to scare the crap out of a lot of wired people.

As for the crowd. Some people tried to dress up but it was far off what we would expect from Circo Loco. The crowd overall was a menagerie of ravers, off season Ibiza workers, posers and what seemed like a bunch of people from the cooler clubs in Lagos (any connection to Proud2?). Random acts of raver stupidity are pretty common place in London and in even the most coveted nights out you always see shameful acts and early endings but this night had a few more than the London average.

The verdict: It was a great NYD party and worth the ticket price for 10 hrs of dancing. Sure it was a mixed crowd but you got to give it to Rob for having the gumption to give Proud2 a go and in fairness things went pretty smooth for the most part. All night we had no issues to get drinks (plastic bottles no less) from the bar and we had good space to dance in both rooms and even re-enjoyed the third floor sky walk for some time too. The organizers from last week’s boxing day disaster (Creche) could have done well to attend this one. The one big irony of the night was the mini cab line outside from around 6am was not working well with massive lines but then we realized we can get the tube home (something not always on offer with matter).

worst party/club night i have ever been to - music was generally not on form and i felt like i was in an episode of the only way is essex. really horrible people in there

We enjoyed it! Would go again. Music was spot on! Crowd was okay. Access to drinks, seating etc was tolerable. All in all a good night. Roll on 2012! :)

Soundorum was the fave with Volcano straight after - loved the atmosphere!

AWESOME PARTY WITH AMASING MUSIC

Better crowd than Mulletover - lower quotient of rood boyz and quite a few friendly people vs. the usual nonsense at this venue

But I do not look forward to another event at a 'secret location' that ends up being at Proud2

bassdorje - I believe the soundsystem was sold when Matter went into administration and there is a newer, cheaper system installed...

wow ... what a mixed bag of opinions ... some interesting clips now posted on You Tube too ... any feedback from how the Hot Natured event at Pulse went?

I'd like to hear about the Hot Natured night too. They closed the topic thread on here so no-one can post feedback on the event page. Facebook page is quite complimentary but predictably seems venue was packed and 'shame about some of the people there' got by far the most likes of any comments so far....

Followed up by 'Don't get me (w)rong love everything about hot natured but some of people who follow it should just f*ck of(f) back to the dub step scene'.

Personally I don't think it's right to generalize like that but bad/rude behaviour in the crowd and excessive posing is such a common complaint these days with Circo Loco, Hot Natured, Visionquest & Crosstown nights, I don't go to these UK gigs now (shame really as the vibe could be really something with a polite, respectful, grounded fun-loving music crowd). There is something to be said for a door policy like they have in some clubs across the channel.. with tickets on the day.

it has all become very similar to the old UK garage scene...alot of these 'new' folk that attend these parties are like something out of a so-solid video...

...Or worse some sort of shitty reality show based in Essex!!!

I have noticed the amount of coked up wide boy's and their equally as awful women friends drinking champagne from the bottle on the dancefloor, they don't dance they posture...Less cocaine, champagne and VIP tables Pleeeease!

It just seems alot of promoters recently are far too money obsessed, which may be why they attract a similar money obsessed, shallow crowd.

I went to a party @ Proud2 a few months back and their was a muppet wearing a fur coat, drinking champagne and then had a pop at me because I said excuse me...and this was at a 'Underground' house and techno party :(

You couldn't have paid me to got to this Circo night. Shame cos the line up was awesome (and I'm sure the music was just that) but you just know the kind of crowd that it would attract!

I went to DC10 this August for Circo and it was miserable. The crowd, for me, ruined it and I left early. Full of wannabe's who didn't even know who was playing and completely smashed! A far cry from when I went last time (albeit 8 years ago!!).

As someone said earlier, I will give Circo/Hot Creations and Visionquest a miss in the UK from now on.

For the record I went to Nofitsate with Move D and Julio Bashmore and it was brilliant. Made such a nice change to meet so many great people.

Just to be clear I am not bad mouthing any promoter or party, just merely making an observation of what I have witnessed going out to party recently in the last year...It is a shame that soooo many clueless, wanabe, club posers are ruining some nights of amazing muisc :(

And yes Nofitstate was such a breath of fresh air from the recent months of oversold, arsehole filled parties I have been to =)

Maybe we should have all been at Circo Loco @ DC10 on NYD for a better crowd?

We had some other friends who were at the third Circo Loco event on NYD .. the other one at BPM in Mexico. They said it was just full of douche bags and posers. So I guess the Proud2 Ciroco Loco was in between the other Circo Loco NYD global parties in terms of the crowd.

But there does seem a consensus about London, big events at big clubs currently attract poor poser crowds. You also take a big risk on secret locations due to unknowns for the crowd and unknowns about the venue and venue staff. There are only a handful of promoters you can really trust too.

The best nights in London in 2011 where ones in smaller clubs like what WARM did with Ame at Plastic People mid year ... what a cool night that was! Maybe Louche @ Plan B in a few weeks time with Jane Fitz, Julio Bashmore and Shonky will be poser and nasty fizzy vinegar drinker free.

London badly needs something like a DC-10 Circo Loco 10 yrs ago.

I'll post my opinion here about Hot Natured seeing as RA have locked the thread. Odd seeing as the touts have made their money now. Do the promoters not want our feedback?!

Thought it was a mixed bag.

It was a massive scrum to get in - think we were queuing for over an hour. They had an odd system of checking your ticket and ID against a list then issuing you with another ticket before another queue to get in. Then a massive queue to put your jacket in.

Once inside the crowd was dross, the worst I’ve ever seen. A couple of my friends left straight away it was that bad. The crowd was a mish mash of caps guys, pushy rude boy gangster/rapper types and reject TOWIE birds.

Thought the music was excellent though. Was very impressed with most of the DJs, particularly Maceo Plex and Art Department who absolutely ripped it. Jones and Foss starterd well but lost it a bit for me in the second hour when I decided to go home.

Thought the promoters also made a good effort with the stage, lighting etc. It was just very hard to enjoy it because it was so packed.

As a few people have pointed out, I think the small, intimate and more underground events such as Murmur and Warm are the way forward, and these mega productions are best avoided. Unless you like wearing fur coats and swigging Moet from the bottle.

I thought Hot Creations was gonna be horrid, no disrespect to any of the people playing or the line up because it was great. Seems Like No fit state was the one to go to! Heard nothing but good things... Unfortunately we got too pissed in the pub and never made it. Definitely up for the MCDE one coming up.

I came over from Ireland for this because of the great lineup. I've been to Circo Loco nights in The End, Matter, and DC 10 so have a few things to compare it to.

I got in about 10pm after paying security a blessing of £10 because I had no ID (even though I'm 30), it really pissed me off but I tried to forget it as quickly as possible. Firstly I though the venue has improved since it was matter. The main improvement being moving the DJ booth opposite the bar and knocking out a few walls to give a huge dance floor. It also feels warmer than matter which to me felt too industrialised. They still haven't fixed the problems with the main stairs though. It was mayhem from 10pm-4am, I can't figure out why they don't just widen them.

The crowd was definetley not what I expected. On the side of the dancfloor nearest the main entrance was just full of poser/wannabes. Every time I walked through it felt like some one might pick a fight if you looked at them wrong.

Upstairs on the second floor directly above this was probably worse. I would say 200-300 mostly gangster/rapper types standing about posing, perving on girls, and basically acting like arseholes. BUT, upstairs dancing looking down on the dance floor I met lots of cool, friendly people who knew who all the Djs were, had been to DC 10 and were just out for a great NYD. The same was true of Id say 2/3 of the dancefloor. From in front of the Dj booth to over to the wall on the opposite side of the main entrance, were cool people dancing to the music.

Now the music - I though it was amazing!! Dyed Soundorom had the place completely rocking by the end of his set, then Tania blew the place apart, then Tanzmann blew it further apart (highlight of the night for me). I was right in front of the DJ booth for all of Vulcano and Tanzmann and I though the vibe was wicked, great music, surrounded by cool people, and the Djs obviously loving the party.

Towards the end of Tanzmanns set Tania got absolutely loaded, and danced like a crazy woman. David Squillace was last, but it was cool as he played with Tania and Tanzmann dancing beside him and they seemed to be loving the night.

So overall I though it was a great NYD party if you forgot about all the arseholes, and just listened to the music. Thats what I did and had a great night. It be cool if someone booked Soundorom, Vulcano, Tanzmann, put them in a smaller club, and didnt call it a Circo Loco night. This probably wont happen though.

Awesome night! Music was on a different level! Soundorom being my favourite especially extending the party from 6am to 7am!

I agree with the moody crowd comments but saying that nowhere on earth will ever have the same atmosphere and vibe of DC10 so its pointless even trying to compare the 2!

To be fair Hot NAtured was better than i was expecting. After my last trip to Pulse for loco dice i vowed never to go back, however didn't have a choice this time. Anyways, they'd played around with the layout a bit and definitely felt like a better space. The music was on point + kenny glasgow did a couple of live vocals that went down nicely. Wasn't as hot as i remembered either. No issues with the toilets although the bar did run out of bottled water. Unforgivable!

The main issue was the crowd as expected. There's defo a new breed of raver who appear to have just jumped on the jamie jones band wagon. Maybe im showing my age (30) but they all seemed 18-21 without a clue about the music. One girl was on the dance floor and more interested in checking her facebook than listening to the music. Also, seeing some little rascal in tracksuit bottoms was a particular low.

I've been quite surprised about how techno/house hasn't gone more mainstream over the years but it now looks like we are at that point and you can be sure the nu cats will be attending anything with jamie jones, foss, crosstown etc. Shame as the music is the issssh!

Surely this is down to the promoters? I don't see why they aren't more particular about who they let into the clubs these days. I remember waaay back trying to get into clubs was not easy! The End circa 97-98 was notoriously difficult to get into. Esp when I was 17 and looked like a dweeb (still am, but sure you know what I mean lol

I think the whole Visionquest/HC sound is in a difficult place at the moment... It's fantastic 'Underground' music, but it's becoming more and more popular, hence the posers and people with Bad Attitudes....

Problem is, it puts off people like ourselves on going to events like the Circo Loco NYD. Change the attitude in the clubs, or else people that truely LOVE the music just won't bother...

Shit Situation eh...

Peace...

I hope it will be as FANTASTIC as this year's Ibiza closing at DC10, 97% people were SERIOUS MUSIC FANS! :-) We LOVE the music policy of Circo Loco! :-)

How about everyone just goes out and has a good time, black/white/London/Essex - this sort of stuff is like a new weird Racist / Discrimination thing.

House music wasn't created for people from London.

Sure some people like to pose, some people like to take drugs and dance.

Go out with your friends and enjoy without having to worry if someone is posing in the corner.
