| #0 / Wed, 19 Oct 11 17:10 Well, yes I still use my good old Rodec mixer the MX180… And I love it. Revised new models of this mixer exist but are not anymore in the clubs... Back in the 90' Rodec was all over the world... So, I tried the Pioneer and… to my eyes they look cheap, the knobs feel too loose and the sound very metallic… But again I mix with vinyls so… it is difficult to say... From what I see around in Clubs, Pioneer has hit them all. It looks as there is a Monopoly from Pioneer which products are to my eyes not that super… A lot of effects, bla, bla but at the end… not much in the stomac I have the impression. As for the effects that are in the Pioneer, ok but much can be done with other devices, more fun to use: Vermona, Korg, again Rodec etc... I got all wrong? | #2 / Sun, 23 Oct 11 10:06 Thanks for the feed-back. This is indeed what I hear but is it really true? If it is true why then all clubs have opted for the Pioneers? I can't imagine that it is the fruit of just marketing... But I may be wrong...

Indeed you're so right. Pionner really don't know how to make good mixer (at least good quality of sound), but however they're very good in marketing & communication !!! We can't blame them for this

| #8 / Thu, 10 Nov 11 15:47 In additon to the DJ Tools Award 2011 won earlier this year, the Allen & Heath's Xone DB4 has also won the DJMAG.COM "DJ Tech Awards 2011 "Ultimate Club Mixer" award.
Pioneer's DJM-900 and DJM-2000 competed as well.

| #11 / Fri, 01 Feb 13 20:49 I had a Tascam X9 for a while about 7-8 years ago. I now regret getting rid of it but cant seem to find them now.
Im always happy if its an allen and heath in a club. The faders stay nice and tight, like the sharp filters too.

| #12 / Thu, 07 Feb 13 20:36 It's right for A&H, but I just hope they'll not take the same path Pionner used to follow ... but it's actually the best choice to make (xone 42 or 92)

| #13 / Sun, 24 Feb 13 18:41 Rodec's sound quality is excellent, but their ergonomics are not always what DJs want. For example, Rodec only offers studio style faders, which are popular in Europe. However, in the US, many DJs prefer paddle style faders. Also, the knobs on the Progressive series mixers are small, and can be tough to see in a dark club environment.

All those types of rotary mixers share two things in common: they're amazing and they're all Bozak copies. An easy way to see why Pioneer and - more for the vinyl-heads - A&H, hold he monopoly on clubs is awareness of other top-end brands. I bet you'd be surprised as to how many people would think Formula Sound mixers are just made for Funktion 1 despite having been making high-end mixers for decades.
