Vitalic (aka Frenchman Pascal Arbez-Nicholas) will work his electronic magic at a special "live" Friday night as Liverpool's Voodoo when it returns to Liverpool's Carling Academy in Hotham Street after the summer break.

Vitalic's been busy this year, with 2005 seeing the release of his debut long player "OK Cowboy", remixing duties on Björk's "Who Is It?" (out on One Little Indian) and numerous festival bookings across Europe over the summer. It's hard to believe that it's really been 4 years since International Deejay Gigolos released his classic Poney EP.

But Vitalic is not all that's on offer at Voodoo in September ... James Ruskin, resident at Berlin's legendary - recently closed - Tresor techno club, sharing the limelight with The 65D Mavericks as Voodoo returns to its regular Saturday night slot the following weekend.

The month will be closed out a fortnight later on the 24th with Luke Slater and German electro master-producer Anthony Rother. Luke became more widely known outside of techno circles with the more electro-styled albums "Freak Funk", "Wireless", and 2002's 80's-inspired "Alright On Top". 2005 has seen the re-release of his 1994 artist album, 4 Cornered Room (out on General Production Recordings) under his 7th Plain alias, and the release of a 2-CD mix, "Fear And Loathing" which name-checks productions from Ben Sims, Jeff Mills, Marco Bailey, Adam Beyer and Two Lone Swordsmen, amongst others.

Although Anthony Rother should need no introduction, he is perhaps not as well known outside of his native Germany as he deserves to be. From his seminal "Sex With The Machines" EP to the more recent "Popkiller" long player, Rother's productions have featured on compilations from Sven Väth to Dave Clarke. Few can lay claim, as Rother can, to not only, having re-made a Kraftwerk track (a cover of Trans-Europe Express), but also to having been re-mixed by Kraftwerk (Karl Barthos's re-mix of Rother's "Little Computer People").

As RA previously wrote when reporting Voodoo's new home at the Liverpool Carling Academy - Back With a Bang, indeed!

Check RA's Event Details for full-line up and ticket information for all of Voodoo's September events.

Karl Bartos (without the 'h') is NOT Kraftwerk. He was till 1990 with Kraftwerk. Now he claims to be an independent musician. He made the above emntioned remix already after his time with Kraftwerk. This means, the remix is not by Kraftwerk.
The statement that the remix was made by Kraftwerk is as far "true" as the statement that the track EXPO 2000 was made by Karl Bartos.

Welcome aboard ! Great to have your input ...

btw it's called "poetic licence" ... I am aware that Flur and Bartos left the group in 90/91 ... and even that there's an umlaut in the spelling of Flur ...

There was some debate today on another board (a Danish one) whether Anthony Rother DJ's or just does some sort of live PA, can anyone help here?

Last time I saw him it was a live PA kind of thing. Hope that helps.

He wasn't wearing any shoes the last time I saw him.

James Ruskin and the 65D Mavericks will be some night. I saw them together with Oliver Ho at a Blueprint night at Melkweg in Amsterdam. It was fandabbiedozy as the Krankies used to say.

Re: Rother.

I have seen him twice and both times it has been a live PA thing as well.
