This is a popularity poll after all. That's the only explanation to why Seth Troxler is a "better" dj than James Holden. The time RA spends covering Crosstown Rebels and Visionquest members is paying off...

Had a feeling the whole Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations, Etc would dominate but not to this extent. Poor pool if you ask me!

the best thing about these polls is the way they get people so upset.

it reflects 2011 , you can like or dislike them , but those guys are good performers and good artists , nothing to deny .
and of course the labels / pr and booking agencies have a lot to do with all this .
good job !!!

This is far more reflective of who might be cool or not...far more reflective of scenester preferences and achievments as a producer than quality as a DJ. If I needed heart sugery I wouldn't appeal to democracy...neither do I think you'll get a very good DJ list. Still, a list is a list is a list.

The list is a good representation of the biggest djs of 2011. It's there to have a snapshot of the best people from this year and its done exactly that!! Who was bigger and better than Jamie Jones in 2011, it was his year without any question whether you like him or hate him.

I personally am a bit bored of the whole hotcreations stuff now but that doesn't stop me from accepting that Jamie Jones smashed it more than any other Dj this year!!

The poll is good. The rebels & crews have smashed it from all angles this year... I have seen which DJs have been the most popular with clubbers this year and surely that is what this is about!

Absolutely, prime trolling potential, this thread will run for a good bit, I mean, where was deadmuas, shambles.

loving the controversy!! some of the hardest working artists of this year are represented here, and fair play to them. they all deserve it.

outside of my working life (!!) i'm pleased to see prosumer & harvey in there... two absolute legends.

These lot don't need any votes or ratings in a top 100. Their music speaks for itself.

The list does represent 2011 pretty well for popularity though.

But these poll results tallied from a huge pool of popular votes don't reflect my own personal tastes!

I agree with what your saying there is no way Troxler is a better Dj than James Holden, but would you make the claim that Holden had a better 2011 than Troxler?

I'm tired of the whole Hot creations/Crosstown Scenester's that has appeared but there's no denying they've dominated 2011.

a much better list with pretty decent quality DJs compared to some other lists that i've seen out there for DJ polls. Although I don't agree with the order (and some missing names who are deserving of being there), this is better than Guetta/Tiesto/Armin wankfests.

nice to see margaret dygas on there :)

For those (idiots) who don't know,

The Rasmussen Reports are a media company specializing in the collection, publication and distribution of public opinion information.

Your point isn't really valid as i have been following the crosstown label for some time now so i wouldn't really class myself as a "scenester who has appeared" . I never said i didn't like the music they where putting out just that i'm tired of a bit of the hype and the legion's of people who have seemed to jumped on the band wagon.

ahahahahahahah.
the situation is very bad.
for example, where is robert hood? and where is larry heard?
iwe need a restoration.

p.s. i think RA should make two polls next year:
- best dj (real djs play with vinyl or CDs)
- best entertainer (those who use that computer bullshit).

honestly tho, it pisses me off to no greater level to think people like Seth Troxler, Ricardo Villalobos and Jamie Jones could have achieved such a high chart position without any reference to the Rasmussen Reports....

Did RA even consider using their services?

They conduct public opinion polls on a variety of topics to inform their audience on events in the news and other topics of interest. To ensure editorial control and independence, they pay for the polls THEMSELVES and generate revenue through the sale of subscriptions, sponsorships, and advertising. Nightly polling on politics, business and lifestyle topics (which I know MUSIC, especially DANCE MUSIC) fits perfectly, provides the content to update the Rasmussen Reports web site many times each day. If it's in the news, IT IS IN THEIR POLLS. Additionally, the data drives a daily update newsletter, the Rasmussen Report on radio and other media outlets.

I say fair play to Jamie Jones. A wicked DJ and has worked very hard to get where he has. There are numerous excellent mixes of his freely available on the web to back up his DJing. Top producer as well.

Will be interesting to see what direction he takes in the new year as i think people could be getting a little bored with the Hot Created/Hot Natured sound reaching saturation point.

Very much looking forward to the party on NYD all the same.

Hawko, have you considered taking the Rasmussen Report into consideration when agreeing 'fair play' to Jamie Jones? I bet a hundred dollars you did not. All information collected from the R.R (Rasmussen Report) are free to the public, and therefore something YOU should know more about.

pathetic...really!!! whats this all about? Which criteria did you use to judge them?? why should tale of us or maceo plex be in the top 20 and people as kyle hall, laurent garnier, shakleton, dj sneak, derrick may, just to reveal some are not even there?
honestly...what did hernan cattaneo/james zabiela do during this year in ordero to be at a such high position....this is all bullshit!!!

yeah Leone_manfredini - if you don't understand this report, you clearly don't understand why I am so outraged regarding the RA polls.... the music industry in 2011 turned into a real shit storm really quick, thanks to the combined efforts of Rasmussen and his reports. FUCK.

Hawko, I think Rasmussen used to do some freelance work with the DJ Mag polls, but apparently there was a falling out three years ago due to Rasmussen nearly convincing the CEO of DJ Mag to change the name of the 'DJ Poll' to 'The DJ Pole' which really stirred the pot.

I went on the website and honestly I don't get the connection about the 2 things...should I look for a particular report?? totally agree about the current situation of music industry...music should be real not fashionable!!!
