Next @ Perlon
finally. Some nice house grooves to be enjoyed. Haven't had a good one of those since DJ T's mix. (Waiting to be proven wrong).

That looks like a terribly uninteresting tracklist, just a straightforward club mix

Bring it on!

Personally I think the fabric CD should be a club mix, something to show what sort of sound that dj would push in the club and how they like to play, mixing style, build-ups etc.. something to get you in the mood for a night at fabric and of course promote that particular dj playing at the club when they do so (I know there are podcasts and sound clouds but a mix cd-whether it be a club style mix-almost always has more love put into it and stands out from anything else you can get ya hands on)...some of the mixes I have from fabric are pretty mediocre for my taste (which is pretty varied and open minded), and after hearing I kinda think twice about worrying to see that particular dj which surely isn't the intention of a night club compilation CD?

man the dumb ass comments on this thread! i for one will be trying it out, although i cant say i'm his biggest fan. however i am looking for something a bit different. the latest fabrics have been a bit samey in my opinion.

whatever next????

a mix can only be recorded in one take - anything else is just a montage... nothing wrong with them at all but you can't call it a mix if it hasn't been done live

Haha, massive lol at this comment.

Is this what the modern dance scene has come to? People surprised at mixes done in one take?

Digital DJing has a lot to answer for, its laying waste to a scene once full of amazing live talents and passionate selectors.

Sneak is a house music legend, well keen to hear this.

Have no shame....Its all good and actually funny (or a sign of the times) to see Sneak featured on the series. Across town Sneak and Carter held court at The End during the heydays of mid-2000s and it seemed like Fabric wouldn't have anything to do them. If they can find and feel at home in Fabric, good but don't expect a bunch of "in the club" secrets to end up on a commercial mix. I think the talent will shine through but its daunting not being able to get everything on a commercial mix....some things just need to stay underground and you have to respect that.

Since CDJs came in with beat matching, i thought that the mix album would die; especially now with free podcasts and the likes of soundcloud and mixcloud, where Djs and artists can connect directly with their audience.
Also having bought Joris Voorn's Balance mix when it was released, in which he used Albeton to create a seamless stream of music, i felt this was the ultimate death of the mix album: whilst being clever it was so seamless it was clinical & sterile and all that represented the bland nature of clubland and electronic music at that point.
However throughout it all, Fabric & Fabriclive cd series have remained at the cutting edge of electronic music, showcasing DJs & artists and giving them the freedom to do what they want. I think the Bukem mix was done 'live' in one take to keep it authentic as possible, so for Sneak to this is no suprise, as prevous posters have said, just where we are with the current scene.
The final point i'd like to mention is that its intresting to see Fabric put out mixes by Derrick Carter & Sneak, who are more far more 'housey' than the usual fair at Fabric, given it has gone more minimal/techno over the last few years.

What a dude. Was there practice runs? Must have been, he's a house gangsta, but not crazy

Happy to see this. Sneak represents so much in the history of house music, one hell of an artist and one with the heart in the right place for sure, true to his music and passion! ;)

You don't know house until you understand who started this groove... and this man is one of the pioneers who first planted the flag of house music square in the middle of what has now become EDM. If it weren't for house music, none of the rest would have evolved from wench they came.

So looking forward to this and I hope he delivers with this release. I first heard him play @ a Gatecrasher Vs Ministry event back in '96 and a whole bunch of other times....

Call me ignorant, but I thought most if not all mix CD's were done in one take?! Mmm

Me too...more surprised that others find it surprising for a mix to be done in one shot...it's kinda of the skill behind djing...or is it...we will let the beat sync crew comment? haha

Gonna buy that mix when I get some walking around
Money..sounds interesting.

I jus read this about pinchs live fabric cd as well.

The Tectonic boss reveals the process behind the recording of his Fabriclive mix: "I essentially licensed all of the tunes that I may have wanted to use in the mix, cut them to dub and then piled them up in my room and did it in one take."

Got this a couple days ago. Still trying to figure out what I think of it, pretty good for a straight up house mix. I'm just not sure if I'll ever listen to it again once the new wears off.

DJ Sneak - Fabric 62 cover
RA Review
"People go, 'What's a house gangster?' A house gangster is someone who keeps it real, that's what it is. And that's what I am." Thus spake Carlos Sosa—better known to clubland as DJ Sneak—in a 2009 interview , and that philosophy of existential realness is about as good an indicator of Sneak's hous..

Much better than a mix full of the generic 'deep house' sound you get from most releases now...dull is the last word I would use really. At least there is no Danny Daze tracks involved...bored of your noise.

Oh dear, most mix cd´s has not been done in one take since the birth of man, way before traktor came mix cd´s has been manipulated in the computer in some way. Even the tightest dj´s has been using a computer to record bits and then putting it together. Nothing new at all. And that is a fact.

The fabric series represents all styles played on Saturdays at fabric - so techno, house, minimal, electronica - and occasionally the elements of disco & dubstep that are played on these nights.

Including the likes of Sneak & Carter is not a new direction. Tony Humphries, Hipp-e & Halo and Doc Martin all represented house in the first 10 releases in the series, whilst DJ Heather and Mark Farina have also represented that 'jacking' style over the years.

As for mixing techniques and styles... some DJs prefer to represent what they'd do in a club. Some believe the mix compilation format to be better suited to home listening and program their set accordingly. Some prefer the rawness and authenticity of a live mix and some prefer the perfection and other opportunities afforded by arranging in the studio. Each person may have their own preference but it is subjective - there is no right or wrong way to record a mix!
