what the fuck? this is ridic.

Our sound implies that we don’t discriminate, do not even regulate, we don’t preach or tell you where it’s at, just where the music is coming from. Take what you will, just listen.

very hard to decide where to dance, upstairs or downstairs, hope that EQD and The Oliverwho Factory don't play at the same time

I think the good people at Berghain are unwise to let Rolando play. A close pal of mine told me that he turned up to play a dj set in the Rex Club in Paris a few weeks ago absolutely hammered drunk and started tossing himself off behind the turntables in a humurous jape. Supposedly he then fired a dose of man muck all over the CDJs and mixer rendering them useless. My mate told me the promoters in the rex club said they'd never book him again..

And they say the nurses have it tough!...this is hardly a life or death question you stupid bastard! This is yet another example of the fucking idiots using these forums.

The era of the intellect is well and truly gone.

well, looking at his behaviour I guess jamescal is realtively young but at least he does manage the copy/paste. That's what he wrote in another thread about another klubnacht at berghain 4 days ago (look at the name of the dj :) )

it seems that this guy and his other RA identities are famous (in the english part of the RA forum) for telling false rumours and other rubbishes.

It might be a kind of humour in his own little secret world or perhaps he's paid by RA to make some untertainement, who knows?

On topic, I'll try upstairs for Lawrence and Carsten Jost. They are for me 2 of the best house djs in germany (that's what I truly think) they always have some gems in their bag (you know? this kind of tracks you remember years after) It's not every week-end that I have the chance to be able to hear in panoramabar the house music I love. Furthermore, with a bit of luck, if they play in the middle of the day, it won't be too crowdy and too "peak-time spirit" and if they play as last ones, I have monday free anyway :) I hope I won' t come with too many expectations but I guess, as often with this kind of djs/line-ups, it' s already too late :)

Downstairs is more than solid, night and day. I suppose ben klock will do the end, we'll see, the timetable is not always as we suppose it to be :) Looking forward! und wie!

One great record played is more valuable than one whole average set.............
Ok, i must say that I dont understand all this details .
I just saw insults for a sentence not agressive at all at the beginning so it pissed me of. Sorry.

I'm just happy to see such DJs the same night / day, a little like pepperman quote says :)

The timetable looks really really good for me. I will probably miss the lives again but hope to catch a part of rolando or/and tama´s set in the morning and then ... I will listen to the djs telling their story. Carsten jost, Lawrence, perhaps I´ll try Peter van hoesen, I´ve heard he can be good, and Ben klock to "finish me". Sunday, here I come!

Peter Van Hoesen was great the last time I saw him - I'll check back here on Monday to see what you thought about him.

Carsten Jost and Lawrence seal the deal for me. Seeing them together is always a treat.

Their set from Beta Lounge circa 2002 is one of my most cherished pieces of "dj art". It's completley brilliant.

why is it that people on this board use the word "crowdy", only in reference to Panorama Bar?

is this a German thing???

someone needs to answer this question for me - :)

I've heard German people (not just the ones who lurk on internet boards) say "crowdy" in all kinds of situations. Probably because it sounds similar to the right word: crowded.

These days, though, maybe "crowdy" isn't such a bad word for Panorama Bar!

Epic is the word :)

So, I love this club, that´s clear but I guess this club loves me too.
First they let my two favourite house djs play in panorambar sunday morning and evening.
Second they put my favourit Techno DJ, Don Williams, as surprise guest after Ben Klock sunday evening.
Was it christmas? was it my birhtday? I love you. Thank you so much!

Carsten Jost: You know, sometimes you have the feeling that the dj is playing for you, for you above all. That´s what happened. He began pretty pumpin House with tracks like "bar a thym" of Kerry Chandler or the last drumpoet community (washerman). After "Mortal trance" of Boo williams (must have, played by san soda last friday aswell) he dropped one of my two favourit villalobos "808 mother queen Bass" and then "nebula" of delano smith.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeMEHJ1Irls

Here I want to make a point. The deep fundamentals ep of delano smith is probably known by a lot of house lovers, I´ve heard many times "this heart" from the ep. This one is a true lovely house track but in my mind it is the obvious track, the easy-to-mix dj-friendly track. deep, beautifull, a good kick, evolving slowly. But on the other side there is the soulfullest "nebula" with his pad solo, my favourite, not so friendly with his bassline coming pretty quickly and abruptely. So in my own value system, normal djs play "this heart", more than normal djs play "Nebula" and Carsten Jost is the only one who played it in front of me. He made the difference.
Just after he dropped lawrence´s "oolong high" on pampa and another lawrence on laid. His evolved then to more techno sounds: convextion, steve rachmad, acid jesus. Great. and finished with house again. The only problem overall is that I saw him 4 times in the last 9 months so I knew quite a lot of records, some I have, but he played the right ones anyway, and I discover a lot also (like the very good one of rick wade´s album on Yore)

Then Lawence took over, he played pretty deep, to give few exemple we´ve heard the Andres "new for U" played by Floating Point aswell friday, or a track form juniper´s theories ep on underground quality. At one point in the middle of his set he went a bit too experimental for me though but when I came back it was again the deep sounds I love: convextion "astrum", plaid "ol" (a lwarence favourit) robert hood "and then we planned our escape"

www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8PhL_u9Q5Y#!

Once again lawrence made me happy and dance with some gemes. Thanks for that!

Then I listen the first hour of RNDM, a lot more pumpin but not necessarily "my sound" but I came back for his last hour, which I loved. He dropped fred p´s "blacklight" followed by Stephen Brown´s "mini mood" on skudge (the one I didn´t buy ... yet) he kept on delivering deep house sounds. One of his last track: Theo Parrish "walking through the sky"

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIeP0Z2ymww

With this one he made the point. I only have two theo parrish: "I can take it" which was played only by Carsten Jost during some warm-ups he´ve done in panoramabar, and now, first time in a club for me "walkin through the sky". Exactly the reason why I follow the dial crew. Even though I´m more into the sound of carsten Jost and lawrence than RNDM and efdemin, they all have a music cluture that let me hope they will drop gemes like that.

After I went downstairs following the tip of friend saying that Ben Klock was excellent. Great decision. He was just going deep and dropped omar s "kosmos" in front of me (also played by Carsten Jost upstairs) I couldn´t believe it. I love this track. Ben Klock always amazes me. He´s famous for keeping the pressure and make people dance (me inclusive) but his choices for deep tracks are always aces aswell. After thsi track he put again the pressure on and I kept on dancing untill the end of his set at around 9 PM.

Then came Don Williams as surprise guest. His first track was beautifull (an old rachmad I guess) but not "loud enough". The second was with breaks. it was a stop. Only the third track was loud enough and had the kick to put us back on track. anf he went on, putting more pressure on the soundsystem and or bodies. After one hour or so, he dropped sean deason´s "psykofuk". I went totally crazy on it

www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIAxtZ8EYXI

(stinger, do you read this?) I was jumping like I was 22 again, and like I wasn´t in this club since 12 hours :) I love so much this record. I bought it lastly.

I will never ever ever ever forget this moment. My favourit club. My favourit DJ making the end. and this track.

Don williams kept on playing very dancefloor techno. I knew nealry nothing and only toward the end, for the last 2 hours, he played some classic: g-man "quo vadis", Elektrochemie LK "Schall" but let´s talk about those that counts "more" to me:
the other people place "let me be me" (when do they do a repress?) I was crazy again :)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5gfgYP2juI

followed by convextion "spice tea", of course :)
a bit later it was infiniti (juan atkins) "thought process" (my favourit on the album)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivSNSRl2ukg

followed by the aztec mystic "aztlan" (By the way, I also liked the end of rolando´s set sunday morning, he´s a true good dj (I slept a good night so I missed the live-acts and the beginning of his set:) )

www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd53kX4LVO8#!

Don Williams finished at 2 AM with other goodies I had no clue about.

What a journey! I´m a music addict and that´s no coincidence that I ended up in this city, in this club, this sunday!

Thank you Berghain!

erwan:

don played the flipside: "daystar rising" from octave one. great record, nevertheless.

apart from that, most of the time, ben klock played too dry for my likings, but this is surely a matter of taste. i'm very grateful to him playing "go" by moby at 6 pm and also "trak 3" from octave one shortly after that.

one of the rare evenings, where every act was at least good (klock) or simply awesome (rolando, don williams, eqd ... and pete of course).
the only downside was, that i didn't have the time to visit the dial-boys, since it was so good down- and quite hot upstairs.

:D:D I can recall a particular moment 3 weeks ago that suits this discription ;)

Wish i was there as well Rolando can be the best out there if he dares to go outside the borders of modern day techno..

Here Erwan another Freq must have and this must have been played there:
Freq - With A Vengeance (K. Hand Remix) www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJGdhzb4vaA
Maybe the a-side is even better but there is no clip...

I would definitely go crazy on that one too :)

And rolando played some modern records but good ones (exium, 50 weapons) but also some classics (guess what? :) ) toward the end.

Upstairs, one of the highlight among so many was a track of smallville people that might be released later this year on an album. If every tack on the album sounds as good as the track we've heard, it will be a must-have.

@ stype
for me Ben Klock was more than only "good" but I' ve only heard a third of his set, mainly toward the end.
